The American Cancer Society encourages breast self-awareness. Being familiar with how your breasts normally look and feel so you can recognize any changes early.

Take time to check your breasts regularly:
• Premenopausal: A few days after your period ends
• Postmenopausal: On the same date each month
• Pregnant/Breastfeeding: Monthly on a consistent date

Breast self-awareness does not replace screening mammograms or clinical breast exams, but it helps you take an active role in your breast health.

A false positive means something looks suspicious on a screening mammogram but turns out not cancer after additional tests, sometimes leading to extra imaging or even an unnecessary biopsy.

These tools can help explain complex information and support you as you prepare for doctor visits. However, they aren’t always accurate, and some responses may be incomplete or misleading.

Breast cancer can affect anyone. The cup size does not determine risk.

There is no solid evidence that having larger breasts increases the chance of developing breast cancer. Likewise, having smaller breasts does not mean a lower risk.

What matters most is regular screening, breast awareness, and early consultation for any breast changes.
