The University of Santo Tomas is inviting parents/caregivers of children ages 2โ11 years old to participate in a research study on child development and Virtual Reality (VR)-based screening.
This study aims to see how well a new VR-based screening tool works with Filipino children. It will help determine whether the tool is safe, child-friendly, culturally appropriate, and useful in observing childrenโs developmental skills during play-based activities.
Children with typical development, possible developmental concerns, or confirmed developmental diagnoses may be eligible to participate. Interested families will first undergo an initial screening process to check if the child meets the study criteria.
As part of the study, parents/caregivers and children will take part in:
- a parent/caregiver interview about the childโs everyday skills;
- parent/caregiverโchild observation of play activities; and
- VR-based screening tasks.
Participants will receive reimbursement/compensation, snacks, evaluation results, and specific home program recommendations.
Participation in this study is voluntary. Your child may stop at any time.
Note: The VR-based screening tool is for research purposes only and does not provide a clinical diagnosis.
This study has been reviewed and approved by the UST College of Rehabilitation Sciences Ethics Review Committee (Protocol Number: 2025-25, Version 4).
