We appreciate how DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon took special note of the Iligan City Comprehensive Drainage Master Plan during his budget presentation before the House Appropriations Committee.

Indeed, we have been working hard on flood mitigation because Iligan sits between eight watersheds and Iligan Bay. Water from our upland areas quickly flows downstream through our rivers toward low-lying communities and eventually out to sea.

The drainage master plan orients flood mitigation works in Iligan to ensure all anti-flood efforts properly solve problems.

We are also developing Project Daloy, our proposed long-term approach to flooding and climate risks. It looks beyond hard infrastructure alone by restoring river corridors and natural waterways, improving the flow of water, stabilizing riverbanks, reducing sediment buildup, and creating spaces where rainwater can be absorbed or temporarily stored.

Project Daloy remains a planning and urban design concept that will still require engineering and architectural studies before specific projects can be implemented. But it gives us a longer-term direction for making Iligan more resilient to flooding.

Desilting and dredging have been underway. Secretary Dizon was here last February to see for himself what needed to be done here.

DPWH plans to work on part of the upper section of the Iligan River in 2027 onwards.

Barangays most prone to river overflow will have protection walls. We will mobilize our residents and barangays to do their share. We will match their and DPWH efforts with city hall support as our limited resources allow. (END)

Muling naging usap-usapan sa social media ang aktres na si Agot Isidro matapos muling mabahagi ang kanyang matinding reaksyon sa mga senador na bumoto pabor sa pagpapalit ng liderato sa Senado.

Sa naturang pahayag, tahasang sinabi ni Isidro na wala siyang respeto sa 13 senador na sumuporta sa pagkakaluklok ni Alan Peter Cayetano bilang Senate President.

“I have ducking no respect for these 13 hooligans who call themselves senators of the Philippines. Duck you,” ani Isidro sa kanyang post sa X.

Ang pahayag ay inilabas noong panahon ng botohan para sa liderato ng Senado, kung saan 13 senador ang bumoto pabor kay Cayetano bilang kapalit ni Vicente Sotto III.

Muling umikot online ang nasabing post matapos muling mabuksan ang usapin tungkol sa naging pagbabago ng liderato sa Senado at sa naging papel ng mga senador na sumuporta rito.
