The Department of Health (DOH) continues to expand the PuroKalusugan Program to bring quality healthcare services closer to communities. The program focuses on eight health priorities, including immunization, nutrition, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, HIV, STIs, and tuberculosis, with the support of barangay health workers and midwives.

According to DOH Focal Person John Michael Guaro,RN,MAN 9 of the 18 priority barangays have already implemented the program this year. Through household health assessments, families’ health needs are identified to ensure timely and appropriate healthcare services.

Residents are encouraged to attend their scheduled assessments and coordinate with their barangay health staff to prepare the necessary documents.

[𝑰𝑵 𝑷𝑯𝑶𝑻𝑶𝑺] The PuroKalusugan Team has officially begun bringing its services to the Basakan District, with Barangay Apo Macote as its first stop. Out of the target population of 5,224 individuals, the team successfully reached and profiled 1,942 residents, marking a strong start in expanding quality healthcare services closer to the community.

This accomplishment was made possible through the leadership and guidance of Dr. Kim T. Luardo, Medical Officer IV, together with the dedicated personnel of the City Health Office. We also extend our sincere appreciation to Sir Marlon John T. Yongco, Basakan District Nurse Coordinator, the Basakan District Rural Health Midwives, and our partner agencies from the City Assessor’s Office, PhilHealth, City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and the HRH Malaybalay Team for their unwavering support, collaboration, and commitment to this initiative.

The team likewise expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Barangay Officials of Barangay Apo Macote, headed by Hon. Vicente H. Leono and Hon. Deither Cutab, Committee Chair on Health, as well as the Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs), Barangay Sanitation Inspectors (BSIs), Sangguniang Barangay members, Purok Leaders, Job Order personnel, BPSOs, and most especially the residents of Barangay Apo Macote for their warm welcome, trust, cooperation, and active participation throughout the activity.
