Built on the principles of strong partnership and support from our principal, Hitachi, the company focuses on supplying its customers with quality and innovative imaging equipment as Hitachi's long-time Philippines distributor of MRI, CT-scan, X-Ray, and Ultrasound systems. In the field of MRI systems, HIMEX supplied and installed the first MRI systems in several regions including Cagayan Valley, Iloilo, Capiz, as well as the first Superconductive MRI systems at Northern Mindanao, Davao City, and Sothern Luzon. In the ultrasound segment, HIMEX introduced the Hitachi EUB-405, which revolutionalised compact and mobile ultrasound systems, proving very popular with end-users due to its high-performance and durability. Supporting Smarter, More Standardized Imaging Through R.A.D.S.

HIMEX Corporation and Canon Inc., Global Medical Business were pleased to support the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center – Department of Radiology during its First Radiology Post-Graduate Course, “REIMAGINED: Through R.A.D.S.”, held in Cebu last Saturday, bringing together radiology professionals for discussions on BI-RADS, PI-RADS, LI-RADS, and TI-RADS.

As standardized reporting continues to play an increasingly important role in diagnostic imaging, Canon Medical offers technologies designed to support radiologists across multiple modalities. Seeing the unseen in MSK ultrasound.

HIMEX Corporation was proud to support MSK in Motion: The SRSP Joint Imaging Courses (Shoulder and Knee), organized by the Skeletal Radiology Society of the Philippines and the Philippine College of Radiology – Central Luzon Chapter, in cooperation with Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital, held on September 20, 2026.

As part of the program, HIMEX presented Canon Medical’s Superb Micro-vascular Imaging (SMI) and its application in musculoskeletal ultrasound — highlighting how advanced microvascular imaging can complement conventional B-mode assessment by revealing subtle low-flow vascularity in structures such as the synovium and tendons.

Using shoulder and knee applications, the session explored SMI in the assessment of synovitis, neovascularization and tendon vascularity, together with a brief look at Shear Wave Elastography (SWE) as another tool for evaluating tissue characteristics.

Beyond the lecture, participants were able to experience Canon Medical ultrasound technology firsthand through interactive hands-on scanning sessions, supported by the HIMEX Clinical Applications Team using the Aplio me and Aplio flex platforms.

We thank the organizers, faculty, facilitators and participants for the opportunity to take part in a day focused on advancing practical MSK imaging education and clinical exchange.

25 Years Behind the Images: Celebrating Ray Orbillo

Behind every successful installation, clinical demonstration, and confident handover is someone who knows how to turn advanced technology into something clinicians can truly use.

This month, we proudly celebrate 25 years with Ray Orbillo, HIMEX Corporation’s Clinical Application Head. Ray began his HIMEX career in sales, but as a trained Radiologic Technologist, his clinical background naturally led him toward applications—where he would go on to build deep multi-modality expertise across medical imaging.

Today, Ray works closely with physicians, radiologists, sonographers, technologists, and our principals to help bridge the gap between sophisticated imaging systems and real-world clinical practice—from demonstrations and image optimization to training and post-installation support. His expertise has been especially evident in our recent Canon Medical ultrasound installations, where strong technology is matched by equally strong clinical applications.

Ray now joins our Technical Dept Head as well as our Sales Supervisor as HIMEX’s third 25-year “Silver” celebrant—a milestone that reflects not only loyalty, but the kind of long-term professional growth we hope to continue offering the next generation of healthcare technology specialists.

Our First Aplio Me High-End Ultrasound Finds Its Home in Davao!

HIMEX Corporation is proud to deliver our first Canon Global Medical Business Aplio Me High-End Ultrasound System to our longtime partners at San Pedro Hospital of Davao City.

Our relationship with San Pedro Hospital spans nearly three decades, making it particularly meaningful to introduce their clinicians to Canon Medical’s latest generation of high-end ultrasound imaging.

The newly developed Aplio Me platform brings Canon’s renowned image quality and advanced clinical applications into a compact, highly capable system designed for demanding diagnostic practice. During clinical applications, one technology that particularly impressed the hospital’s senior consultants was Superb Micro-vascular Imaging (SMI).

SMI is designed to visualize low-velocity microvascular blood flow with exceptional sensitivity and detail, helping clinicians appreciate vascular information that may be difficult to demonstrate using conventional Doppler techniques. Sometimes, the most convincing introduction to a new ultrasound platform is simply putting the probe in the clinician’s hand and allowing the images to speak for themselves.

We thank the physicians, sonographers, and entire team of San Pedro Hospital for their continued confidence in HIMEX, and we are proud to see another advanced Canon Medical imaging solution take its place in Mindanao.

One Week Later—and the Momentum Continues

It is hard to believe that a full week has already passed since the PSVIR 2026 Annual Convention, where HIMEX Corporation and Canon Inc., Global Medical Business proudly presented our luncheon symposium, “A New Era of Precision IR with Angio-CT.”

The symposium offered delegates a compelling look at the future of interventional radiology through the Canon Alphenix 4D CT—an integrated Angio-CT solution that brings angiography and CT together in one room, on one shared patient table.

For procedures requiring CT guidance, including Y-90 radioembolization, TACE, ablation, complex embolization, and other advanced interventions, this integrated workflow can eliminate the time and complexity of transferring patients between separate imaging systems. Selected CT-guided workflow steps that may traditionally require 45 minutes to an hour can potentially be completed in as little as 5–10 minutes, enabling physicians to diagnose, treat, and verify with greater efficiency, precision, and confidence.

Our sincere gratitude goes to Prof. Tay Kiang Hiong, distinguished interventional radiologist from Singapore General Hospital, for sharing the institution’s extensive experience with integrated Angio-CT and presenting real-world clinical applications of this transformative technology. We likewise thank Dr. Rudolf Kuhn for expertly moderating the session and guiding an insightful discussion with our delegates.

As interventional radiology continues to advance in the Philippines, solutions such as Alphenix 4D CT open exciting possibilities for more streamlined workflows, expanded treatment capabilities, and increasingly precise patient care.
