World Mental Health Day

We all go through different things. There are good days, stressful days, and days when we simply need a little time to breathe and get through them. This is why taking care of our mental health matters. Not only when things become difficult, but also as part of our everyday lives.

Every second week of October, in line with Proclamation No. 452, s. 1994, we celebrate 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐚π₯ 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚π₯ π‡πžπšπ₯𝐭𝐑 π–πžπžπ€, reminding us to give time and attention to our mental well-being.

Through Project YONA (You’re Not Alone), we continue our commitment to promoting mental health awareness and creating a community where people can feel comfortable talking about their mental health without judgment.

A thought about death does not always mean a wish to die. A wish to disappear can mean exhaustion, or pain, or simply wanting things to be different. And someone thinking about su***de may not always say it directly. We won't know unless we ask.

One common misconception is that talking about su***de encourages someone to act on it. That's not true. One of the simplest and most meaningful ways to help prevent su***de is to listen and truly try to understand what someone is feeling. You don't need to convince them it's wrong. What helps more is listening and letting them express what's on their mind. In doing so, even just a little, the weight becomes lighter, and they feel less alone.

Most of the time, prevention starts with a conversation.πŸ’›

And to anyone who has stayed, despite everything, despite the weight, despite the days that felt impossible: thank you. Thank you for choosing to stay. Your presence matters, and you are not alone.

Su***de Prevention Month starts this September, and it's worth remembering something simple: hope often begins with knowing we're not alone in whatever we're carrying.

This month, let's make more room for honest conversations and real listening. A simple check-in, a few minutes of someone's full attention, a reminder that they matter, these things count more than we sometimes realize.

We don't always notice when someone is struggling. People get good at hiding it, at answering "I'm fine" out of habit rather than truth. That's exactly why the small things matter so much. Asking twice. Noticing when someone's gone quiet. Making it clear that you're someone they can actually talk to.

Let's keep reaching out. Let's listen without jumping to judgment. And let's keep reminding each other that it's okay to ask for help, okay to hold onto hope, and okay to stay connected to the people around us.

If you or someone you know needs to talk to someone, these lines are there for that:

There are days when you may feel strangely disconnected from yourself. You might feel distant from your thoughts, your emotions, or even the world around you. It can be unsettling, confusing, and difficult to put into words.

If this has happened to you, know that you are not the only one. Experiences like these can occur during periods of overwhelming stress, emotional strain, lack of sleep, or after difficult life events. They are experiences, not a reflection of who you are.

When these moments happen, try to be patient with yourself.

Take a moment to place your hand over your heart and notice your breathing. Let it remind you that you are here, in this moment.

If it helps, write down whatever comes to mind. It does not have to be organized or meaningful. Sometimes putting your thoughts on paper can make them feel a little less overwhelming.

Give yourself permission to pause. Sit quietly for a few minutes, take slow breaths, and allow yourself to rest without feeling that you always have to be productive.

You do not have to fix everything all at once. Sometimes feeling more like yourself again begins with small, gentle moments of care.

If these experiences become frequent, last for a long time, or start affecting your work, relationships, or daily life, consider talking to someone you trust or reaching out to a mental health professional. Asking for support is not a sign of weakness. It is one way of taking care of yourself.

Be kind to yourself, especially on the days that feel hardest. You deserve the same patience and compassion that you would offer someone you care about.

August is 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐚π₯ π…πšπ¦π’π₯𝐲 𝐏π₯𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐒𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐑, and August 1 marks π…πšπ¦π’π₯𝐲 𝐏π₯𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐒𝐧𝐠 πƒπšπ²!

This month, we join the celebration by encouraging everyone to learn more about family planning and make informed choices about their reproductive health.

Family planning is more than deciding when to have children. It helps individuals and couples choose if and when to have children, as well as the number and spacing of pregnancies, based on their health, goals, and personal circumstances. With the right information and access to safe, effective, and voluntary family planning methods, every family can make the choices that are best for them.

Why is family planning important?
✦ It helps prevent unintended pregnancies.
✦ It supports healthier pregnancies by promoting the right timing and spacing between births, benefiting both mothers and babies.
✦ It helps reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) through appropriate protection, such as condom use.
✦ It can help lower the risk of infertility linked to untreated STIs.
✦ It gives families the opportunity to better prepare for their children's health, education, and future.

Healthy families begin with informed decisions. Tandaan, Panalo ang Pamilyang Planado!
