Angeles G. Casabuena, Jr.

Quezon City, Philippines- The Lung Center of the Philippines has gathered the Center’s leaders for the two-day Strategic Planning Workshop on July 23-24, 2026, at the Luxent Hotel, Quezon City. This workshop aimed to formulate actionable strategies to solidify the LCP’s status as the country’s designated APEX, the National Specialty Center for pulmonary disease management.

The Department of Health (DOH) Resource Stratified Framework positioned LCP as an Apex Center, requiring it to offer the highest tier of specialized care, drive clinical innovation, and serve as the final referral authority for complex respiratory and thoracic conditions across the country.

This planning workshop has convened the institution’s core leadership team to review LCP’s achievements, align future priorities, and establish a clear roadmap for the hospital’s sustainable long-term development. The two-day Workshop discussions reiterated the institution’s commitment to delivering state-of-the-art care by compassionate, highly competent healthcare professionals, with the presence of highly anticipated technology and infrastructure, at par with the region.

The participants outlined and have targeted focused programs including intensive pulmonary care, advanced thoracic surgical procedures, expanded diagnostic capabilities, human resource assets development, streamlined funding and national leadership. This has also emphasized LCP’s role in leading national research and training programs in respiratory diseases management, and extending capacity to lead nationwide.

Moreover, hospital managers addressed administrative arms, such as support for digital transformation, system integration, equipment plan, human resources, and its corporate stakeholders’ management.

The Strategic Planning Workshop was facilitated with highly competent consultants, namely, Ms. Leonisa De la Llana, Ms. Angelita Atanacio and Ms. Agnes Fidelino. This workshop was spearheaded by the Strategic Planning Division (SPD) under the Management Services Department (MSD).

Embodied with a clear action plan, the leadership of the Lung Center of the Philippines reaffirmed its dedication to transforming respiratory healthcare in the nation through innovation, research, and patient-centered service.

As Dr. Jubert P. Benedicto, Executive Director of the Lung Center of the Philippines, has emphasized its commitment in the achievement of these goals with excellence, collaboration, and dedication. He acknowledges the preparation, contribution, and participation of everyone in this roadmap that LCP wants to realize. As he closes the activity, he uttered, “Face everything and rise. Forget everything and run. A message that reminded LCP leaders to come back in the workplace armed with the passion to continue what have been done, and look forward to what can still be done. A challenge from the LCP’s Chief to remain steadfast, decisive, and productive -a legacy that LCP will offer to every Filipino.
