Kuya Bench Update
Day 7 – ICU
26 June 2026

General Update
* Praise God for another encouraging milestone. Kuya Bench has been given the green light by his doctors to be transferred to the General Ward after tonight's dialysis, subject to ward/room availability. Otherwise, the transfer is expected to take place by tomorrow.
* His endocrinologist, Dr. Rojo, personally briefed me on his condition and shared the encouraging progress she has observed. Kuya Bench is tolerating his high-calorie nutritional regimen well, with plans to gradually increase his caloric intake over the coming days. His blood glucose levels have remained well controlled, ranging between 140–150 mg/dL, without the need for any diabetic medications at this stage. His nasogastric tube (NGT) will remain in place even after his transfer to the General Ward until further medical review.

I. Neurological Status
Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS): 13
* Eye Opening: 4
* Verbal Response: 3
* Motor Response: 6
Movement Strength
* Legs: 5/5
* Arms: 5/5
Observation: Kuya Bench is noticeably more alert and active. He is attempting to speak more frequently, and while his voice is stronger and louder, his words remain incomprehensible at this stage.

II. Nephrology
* Dialysis is ongoing as of this update. It commenced at 4:10 PM and is expected to run for approximately 4 hours.
* I also spoke with his nephrologist, who shared that Monday's laboratory results will be crucial in determining whether his kidney injury is temporary (acute) or if chronic kidney disease (CKD) is present. These results will guide the next phase of his treatment plan.
* Urine output remains within the normal range (>30 mL/hour), which continues to be an encouraging sign.

III. Vital Signs
* Oxygen Saturation: 100% on nasal cannula at 3 L/min
* Blood Pressure: Slightly elevated; however, the Nicardipine infusion has been successfully reduced to 20 mL/hour, which is now the minimal dosage.
* Heart Rate: Averaging 100 bpm
* Temperature: Normal (afebrile)

IV. Endocrine
* Blood glucose is monitored every 6 hours.
* Blood sugar levels remain well controlled without the need for medication.

V. Nutrition
* Nasogastric tube feeding has been adjusted to meet his increasing caloric requirements.
* He is currently receiving approximately 2,000 kcal per day, with the revised feeding regimen initiated this afternoon.

VI. Previous Wound
* The previous wound remains dry, clean, and intact, with no concerns noted.

VII. Other Observations
* One bowel movement was recorded today.

We are deeply grateful for your continued prayers, words of encouragement, and unwavering support throughout this journey.
Today, we rejoice because we have witnessed yet another reminder of God's faithfulness. Every improvement, every positive report, and every step forward is a testimony of His grace and mercy. God never makes a mistake. Nothing is impossible with Him. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, and He never fails. Through every moment of uncertainty, He remains sovereign, faithful, and completely in control.

"Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass."
Psalm 37:5 (KJV)

Let's pray for continues healing.
