The Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (CVCHD), in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Cagayan through the Provincial Health Office, successfully conducted the Ligtas Tigdas Regional-Provincial Kick-Off on August 10, 2026. The activity signaled a stronger regional and provincial commitment to intensify measles vaccination efforts, strengthen community awareness, and ensure that every eligible child receives timely protection against measles.

The activity was attended by representatives from various National Government Agencies (NGAs), including CVMC, DENR, DA, BIR, PDEA, BFP, DPWH, PSA, BJMP, CAAP, DSWD, DILG, and PNP, together with the Provincial DOH Office (PDOHO). Representatives from all 12 District Hospitals and all Rural Health Units (RHUs) in the Province of Cagayan also joined the activity, demonstrating a strong whole-of-government and whole-of-health-system approach. As part of the kick-off, health service delivery and vaccination was also provided by the Tuguegarao City Health Office and participating District Hospitals, bringing essential health services closer to the attendees and the community.

Adding color and inspiration to the celebration was the Little Mr. & Ms. Ligtas Tigdas Ambassador and Ambassadress, featuring young representatives from Aparri Provincial Hospital, Baggao District Hospital, Matilde A. Olivas District Hospital, Provincial Health Office (PHO), Tuao District Hospital, and Iguig Municipal Health Office (MHO). Their participation highlighted the very heart of the campaign our children and reminded everyone of the shared responsibility to keep them healthy, protected, and safe from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Through the Ligtas Tigdas Pledge of Commitment, participating agencies, health facilities, LGUs, health workers, and partners reaffirmed their commitment to seek, reach, and vaccinate every eligible child. The PGC-PHO, together with CVCHD and its partners, remains steadfast in working toward 100% coverage of eligible children in the Province of Cagayan, ensuring that no child and no community is left behind. The Provincial Government of Cagayan, through the Provincial Health Office (PHO) under the Enhanced Public Health Program, covering Epidemiology and Surveillance, Dengue Program, and Environmental Sanitation, successfully conducted the Rainy Season Health Risk Forum in the Municipalities of Gonzaga and Claveria.

The activity featured expert discussions from Engr. Felizardo Taguiam, Environmental Sanitation Program Coordinator; Mr. Nestor Santiago, Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Officer; and Ms. Bettina Bacuyag, Health Program Officer II deployed by the Department of Health โ€“ Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (CVCHD) Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU).

The forum focused on Dengue and Leptospirosis, highlighting current public health concerns, existing gaps and challenges, individual and community responsibilities, and practical preventive measures to minimize health risks during the rainy season.

The activity was successfully conducted in the municipalities of Gonzaga and Santa Teresita, bringing together 169 participants, including the Municipal Mayor, Municipal Health Officer, Barangay Captains, School Principals, Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Sangguniang Barangay Committee on Health Chairpersons, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) personnel, Rural Health Unit Human Resources for Health (RHU-HRH), and representatives from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and the Department of Health (DOH).

The forum served as a valuable platform for strengthening partnerships, enhancing awareness of rainy season-related health risks, and reinforcing the shared commitment of local leaders, health workers, and partner agencies to implement coordinated disease prevention, environmental sanitation, and community preparedness initiatives.

The Provincial Government of Cagayan, through the Provincial Health Office (PHO) โ€“ Oral Health Program, successfully conducted patient assessment and dental treatment services at the Cagayan Provincial Government Clinic (CPGC) and the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Rizal, Cagayan. The activity was led by Dr. Gilberto Ricardo Ancheta and Dr. Justino Tagoc, whose dedication and expertise ensured the delivery of quality oral healthcare services to the community. This initiative reflects the province's continuing commitment to providing accessible, quality, and responsive dental care through preventive and curative interventions.

Throughout the activity, dental services were successfully delivered to patients at both the Cagayan Provincial Government Clinic (CPGC) and the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Rizal, Cagayan, where consultations, tooth extractions, patient assessments, and oral health education were provided. These services ensured that individuals received timely and appropriate dental care while promoting awareness on the importance of proper oral hygiene and preventive oral health practices. The activity gathered 28 Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs), PHO staff, personnel from Balzain Barangay Health Station (BHS), a preschool child who participated in the demonstration, and a resource speaker from Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) who provided expert guidance on proper height measurement techniques.

The orientation focused on the correct use of the height board to ensure accurate and standardized anthropometric measurements. Through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, participants enhanced their knowledge and skills in conducting reliable nutrition assessments, recognizing that precise height measurements are essential in identifying growth concerns, monitoring child development, and guiding appropriate nutrition interventions.

The Provincial Government of Cagayan, through the Provincial Health Office (PHO), joined forces with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) and Mabini Masonic Lodge No. 39 to conduct a comprehensive Medical Mission, reaffirming a shared commitment to making essential healthcare and legal services more accessible to communities. The initiative highlights the value of multi-sectoral collaboration in addressing the diverse needs of Cagayanos and promoting equitable access to quality public services.

The activity benefited a total of 340 patients, providing a wide range of services that included 158 medical consultations, 103 dental services with 71 dental extractions, 204 optical services, 3 minor surgical procedures, and 48 legal aid consultations. By integrating healthcare and legal assistance in a single outreach activity, the mission provided holistic support to individuals and families while bringing vital services closer to the grassroots.

The success of the activity was made possible through the invaluable partnership of the Matilde A. Olivas District Hospital (MAODH), Lasam District Hospital (LDH), Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC), the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Mabini Masonic Lodge No. 39, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and partner organizations. Through sustained collaboration and shared commitment, the Provincial Government of Cagayan continues to strengthen community partnerships and advance programs that improve health, promote social welfare, and enhance the quality of life of every Cagayanos.

In celebration of National Disability Rights Week, the Provincial Government of Cagayan, through the Provincial Health Office (PHO) under the leadership of Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Rebecca C. Battung, together with Ms. Ma. Lourdes Bangan, Administrative Officer V, and the Provincial Health Office team, successfully conducted a Medical and Dental Mission on July 17, 2026, at the Camalaniugan Public Gymnasium. The activity was held in collaboration with the Provincial Persons with Disability Affairs Officer (PDAO), reaffirming the Provincial Government's commitment to promoting inclusive, accessible, and equitable healthcare services for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and the wider community.

Together with Aparri Provincial Hospital (APH), headed by Dr. Diana Rhea V. Garde, Chief of Hospital, whose leadership and support were instrumental in the successful delivery of essential healthcare services. Through the collective efforts of the Provincial Health Office, APH, PDAO, and partner healthcare workers, a total of 150 individuals received medical consultations, 3 beneficiaries availed of dental services, and 250 participants benefited from the nutrition feeding program, bringing much-needed healthcare and nutrition services closer to the community.

The observance of National Disability Rights Week highlights the Provincial Government of Cagayan's unwavering commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, and well-being of Persons with Disabilities by ensuring that quality healthcare is inclusive, accessible, and responsive to their needs. The Provincial Government of Cagayan (PGC), through the Provincial Health Office (PHO), conducted a series of strategic coordination meetings and partnership engagements with key healthcare stakeholders, development partners, and private sector organizations in Metro Manila, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the province's healthcare system through collaboration, innovation, and sustainable investments.

Governor Edgar B. Aglipay led the provincial delegation during the Awarding Ceremony of Medical Equipment by Wondfo Biotech Philippines Inc., underscoring the Provincial Government's continuing commitment to improving access to quality healthcare services and enhancing the delivery of medical care for every Cagayanos.

Representing the Provincial Health Office were Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Rebecca C. Battung, Mr. Robert Umoso, Mr. Xernan Wandagan, Ms. Issah Bagain, Ms. Domini Princess Balisi, and Ms. Mary Rose Macarubbo, together with Dr. Diana Rhea V. Garde, Chief of Hospital of Aparri Provincial Hospital. The delegation actively participated in discussions aimed at strengthening partnerships, exploring innovative healthcare initiatives, and advancing programs that support the province's health priorities and long-term development goals.

Among the key engagements were coordination meetings with investors regarding the proposed Seaport and Airport Development Projects, participation in the Awarding Ceremony of Medical Equipment by Wondfo Biotech Philippines Inc., and a Meet and Greet with Ms. Earth Philippines and the EGAY Health Ambassador, highlighting shared advocacies on health promotion, environmental sustainability, and community wellness.

The delegation also met with representatives of Juan Dialysis and Grovic Dialysis to explore potential collaborations for expanding access to quality renal healthcare services, strengthening dialysis care, and enhancing the delivery of specialized medical services for Cagayanos.
