Did you know that before a child can generalize a skill, they first need to learn what to respond to?

This is where Discrimination Training comes in. 💙

In ABA, discrimination training helps learners tell the difference between stimuli, cues, or situations and respond appropriately. Through reinforcement, correct responses are strengthened while incorrect responses are not reinforced.
This can help children learn new skills, reduce problem behaviors, and become more independent in everyday situations.

Once a child understands what to respond to, we can then work toward using that skill across different people, places, and situations -
that’s generalization.
