Scalpel in collaboration with Young Doctors Association (YDA), pleased to announce an Essential Surgical Skills Workshop specifically arranged for all House officers working under DHQ Teaching Hospital & WCH.

The workshop is designed to help develop and strengthen their suturing and essential surgical skills through hands-on, simulation-based learning under expert guidance.

# # # Young Doctors Association (YDA) Condemns Hostel Robbery at Ayub Medical College and Demands Immediate Action

Abbottabad — The Young Doctors Association (YDA) strongly condemns the recent incidents of robbery reported in multiple hostels of Ayub Medical College. According to confirmed reports, unknown individuals unlawfully entered 10–15 hostel rooms and stole valuable personal belongings, including laptops, mobile phones, cash, and other essential items.

This alarming incident reflects a serious lapse in campus security and has caused distress and fear among students. The safety and security of students residing in college hostels are the fundamental responsibility of the administration. Unfortunately, repeated concerns raised by YDA regarding inadequate security arrangements—including prior written and verbal demands for the installation of CCTV cameras, improved surveillance systems, and strengthened security personnel—have not been taken seriously.

YDA demands the following immediate actions:

1. **A transparent and time-bound investigation** into the robbery incidents, conducted in coordination with local law enforcement authorities.
2. **Identification and strict legal action against all culprits** involved in this criminal act.
3. **Accountability of the hostel and college administration**, including an inquiry into administrative negligence and failure to ensure adequate security measures.
4. **Immediate installation of CCTV cameras**, improved lighting, secure entry/exit monitoring systems, and enhanced security patrols across all hostels.
5. **Compensation for the affected students** for their financial losses resulting from this security breach.
6. **Submission of a formal security improvement plan** by the administration within a specified timeframe to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

YDA firmly believes that this robbery constitutes a clear breach of personal safety and institutional responsibility. In light of this gross negligence, YDA demands the resignation of the Chief Provost, Provost, and concerned administrative officials if accountability is not ensured.

We assure all affected students that YDA stands in full solidarity with them. We are facilitating legal support and will pursue this matter through all available legal and institutional channels to ensure justice is served.

All students who have been affected by this incident are requested to contact YDA representatives to register their complaints and receive assistance.

YDA urges the entire student body to stand united in support of the affected students and to collectively demand a safe and secure academic environment.

YDA AMC strongly condemns the acts of brutality and vulgarity by the Dean OF GMC Dr Naseem saba. Torturing the students and playing with their future is a neo-normal for Naseem Saba. Her rage and grudges are the reflection of her intellectual capabilities, which show how fear she is. The gritty minds can never hold a chair for long, their oppressions must be met an end. Since the past 4 years, Pakistani rupee has devalued 75.19% against US dollar. Similarly, a massive increase in the cost of basic necessities including electricity, gas, food was found due to the continuous ongoing inflation.
Unfortunately, the stipend of all House Officers across KPK remained unchanged for the past 4 years. This led to a greater economic burden on the talented young doctors leading most of them to leave their motherland for foreign countries.
Our request is to the concerned authorities of KP government to raise the stipend of all House Officers of KPK to a greater than 50% inshaAllah.
This raise would motivate all the brilliant young doctors of KPK and would play very significant role in the provision of highest possible of level of healthcare to the people of KP, Pakistan and entire mankind in the years to come. InshaAllah!
There also needs to be a standardized policy of raising the stipend of all House Officers and Training Medical Officers on fixed yearly basis just like all the professions in KPK and Pakistan, so that in future never ever a need for any applications, press conferences, protests unfortunately arise to raise the stipend.

Press Release: Young Doctors Association (YDA) Abbottabad

A meeting of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Abbottabad was held under the leadership of Dr. Ismail Alam Khan, with cabinet members and house officers in attendance.

The meeting began with the recitation of the Quran. Dr. Ismail Alam Khan, the association's president, welcomed all newly joined house officers. The agenda included discussions on multiple key topics.

Dr. Arshad Khan, Dr. Saqib Wazir, Dr. Hubab Ali, Dr. Naveed Wazir, Dr. Babar Khan, Dr. Muzammil Shah, and Dr. Razaullah Yousafzai were entrusted with the responsibility of forming the new cabinet for house officers. Additionally, the proposal to organize a welcome party for new house officers and training medical officers was brought forward.

Upcoming elections were a major discussion point. Participants committed to fully supporting YDA’s nominated candidates, with plans for a strong campaign. They acknowledged the contributions of young doctors and emphasized that the association enjoys widespread support within the medical community. Post-election, YDA aims to continue its tradition of serving the medical community with dedication.

Participants expressed gratitude that the health department has lifted the hiring freeze, allowing new recruitments and progress on other hospital matters. It was decided to meet with the hospital director, Dr. Dawood, to expedite renovation projects for the library and hostel facilities.

The association also addressed issues related to patient care and committed to working towards resolving them. A meeting with Professor Dr. Abid Jameel, the Chairman of the Board of Governors, was planned to discuss these patient welfare measures.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants reiterated their commitment to the mission of YDA: safeguarding doctors' rights and advancing patient welfare.
