ENT Department Final Ear Module Examination

The ENT Department successfully conducted the Final Ear Module Examination for the 4th-year MBBS students. The examination was organized in the form of an Objective Structured Practical Examination (OSPE) comprising four interactive stations, each designed to assess the students’ knowledge and practical skills comprehensively.

The stations included:

* Audiology: Interpretation of audiograms and tympanograms, and assessment of hearing disorders.
* Radiology: Interpretation of temporal bone imaging and mastoid X-rays/CT scans.
* Clinical Examination: Demonstration of otological examination techniques, clinical reasoning, and patient assessment.
* Instrumentation: Identification of ENT instruments and explanation of their indications and uses.

The interactive station format provided a fair and structured assessment of students’ theoretical understanding, clinical competence, and practical skills in otology.

Dr. Tayyaba Irshad successfully endoscopic removed an open safety pin from the esophagus of a 25-year-old female.

This was a particularly challenging and critical case, as the safety pin was open and its sharp end was embedded in the esophageal mucosa, significantly increasing the risk of mucosal injury and perforation. With meticulous planning, precise endoscopic handling, and excellent surgical skill, the safety pin was removed safely without complications.

Such cases demand patience, precision, and sound surgical judgment. Well done to Dr. Tayyaba Irshad for their excellent work.

Ma Sha Allah! Today marks a special milestone as Dr. Hasham and Dr. Shaista officially enter the 4th and final year of their ENT residency. To celebrate this achievement, we held a small cake-cutting ceremony.

I still remember the day they joined us as junior residents in the old ENT building, when we did not even have a dedicated PGR room. They witnessed the struggles our department went through and have been part of the remarkable journey that transformed the ward into what it is today.

They are the last generation of PGRs who experienced the ENT ward in its old building before its renovation and have contributed to its growth every step of the way.

We are proud of both of them and wish them the very best in their final year of residency and in all their future endeavors. May Allah grant them continued success, knowledge, and excellence in their careers. Ameen.

Dr. Shahbaz hussain, Dr. Hasham wahid, and Dr. Talha wahed successfully excised a large sublingual epidermoid cyst extending below the mylohyoid muscle through an intraoral (oral) approach under the supervision of Dr. Shahbaz Hussain Khosa.

The procedure highlighted meticulous surgical planning and precise dissection, allowing complete removal of the cyst while avoiding an external cervical incision. This approach provided excellent cosmetic results with preservation of surrounding vital structures.
