📢 Three-Day Training on Contraceptive Logistic Management Information System (cLMIS) Concludes in Gilgit

A three-day training on the Contraceptive Logistic Management Information System (cLMIS) was successfully conducted under the Sihat Ka Safar (SKS) initiative from 26–28 August 2026 at Oasis Hotel, Gilgit.

The training brought together District, Provincial, and MNCH focal persons, along with other relevant officials from across Gilgit-Baltistan.

The primary objective of the training was to strengthen the capacity of participants in effectively utilizing the cLMIS platform to monitor contraceptive supplies and commodities online, track stock availability and consumption, and ensure timely reporting and efficient management of family planning commodities. The system will help ensure improved visibility of stock levels and support timely decision-making to prevent stock-outs and maintain the availability of essential commodities at health facilities.

During the training, user IDs were created and provided to the respective districts, enabling the concerned focal persons to access and effectively utilize the online cLMIS system.

On the third and final day, participants carried out a practical exercise by entering and feeding data into the online system. The participants also successfully shared the relevant data through the cLMIS platform, providing them with valuable hands-on experience.

The closing ceremony was attended by Director General Health, Gilgit-Baltistan, Dr. Saleem Uddin, who delivered the closing remarks and appreciated the efforts of the organizers and participants. He emphasized the importance of effective supply chain management, timely data reporting, and the availability of essential family planning commodities across Gilgit-Baltistan.

At the conclusion of the training, certificates were distributed among the participants in recognition of their successful completion of the three-day training.

The training is expected to strengthen the monitoring and management of contraceptive supplies and commodities, improve stock availability, and support uninterrupted family planning services across all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan.

August 29, 2026, A two-day Bi-Annual EPI & VPD Surveillance Review Meeting was successfully held in Gilgit-Baltistan from August 28–29, 2026. The meeting was organized by the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), Gilgit-Baltistan, with technical support from the World Health Organization (WHO).

The meeting was inaugurated by Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, Director EPI Gilgit-Baltistan, who warmly welcomed all participants on behalf of EPI GB. He expressed his gratitude to partner organizations, particularly the World Health Organization, for their continued technical support, which provides EPI Gilgit-Baltistan with valuable opportunities to review and evaluate its performance and identify areas requiring further improvement.

The meeting was attended by senior officials and technical experts from the WHO Country Office, District Health Officers (DHOs), District Superintendents Vaccination (DSVs), and Data Managers from all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan. Representatives and staff from WHO-EPI, WHO-PEI, UNICEF, and officials from the Provincial EPI Office Gilgit-Baltistan also participated in the two-day review meeting.

During the meeting, District Health Officers presented the district-wise performance of the Expanded Programme on Immunization, highlighting achievements, progress, challenges, and bottlenecks. The presentations provided an important opportunity to review the performance of individual districts and identify areas where additional support and interventions are required.

A detailed presentation on Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) Surveillance was delivered by Dr. Muharram, focusing on key aspects of disease surveillance and the importance of strengthening surveillance systems for the timely detection, reporting, and response to vaccine-preventable diseases.

The closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Salim Uddin, Director General Health Services Gilgit-Baltistan. In his remarks, Dr. Salim Uddin appreciated the performance and collective efforts of all districts in strengthening routine immunization and surveillance activities across Gilgit-Baltistan. He emphasized the importance of continued commitment, coordination, and effective implementation of EPI activities to ensure improved immunization coverage and better health outcomes for children.

He also appreciated and thanked the partner organizations, particularly WHO and UNICEF, for their continued cooperation, technical assistance, and support to the EPI programme in Gilgit-Baltistan. Expressing optimism for the future, the Director General Health Services hoped that the partner organizations would continue extending their full support to EPI Gilgit-Baltistan and play an important role in ensuring that life-saving vaccines reach every eligible child.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, Director EPI Gilgit-Baltistan, thanked all participants, particularly the officials and technical experts who travelled from the WHO Country Office and the DHOs who participated from different districts of Gilgit-Baltistan.

He reiterated EPI Gilgit-Baltistan’s commitment to further improving its performance in the coming years. Dr. Iqbal also acknowledged the challenges and bottlenecks highlighted during the district presentations and assured the districts of his full cooperation and support in addressing these issues.

The two-day review meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from EPI, district health authorities, and partner organizations to strengthen routine immunization and VPD surveillance, address existing challenges, and work collectively towards ensuring that every eligible child in Gilgit-Baltistan receives life-saving vaccines.

وزیرِ صحت گلگت بلتستان اقبال حسن اور ڈائریکٹر جنرل ہیلتھ گلگت بلتستان ڈاکٹر سلیم الدین نے اسلام آباد میں آغا خان فاؤنڈیشن پاکستان اور اقوامِ متحدہ کے ادارے UNFPA پاکستان کے ہیڈ آفسز کا دورہ کیا، جہاں گلگت بلتستان میں شعبۂ صحت کی بہتری، باہمی تعاون اور مستقبل کے مشترکہ اقدامات کے حوالے سے اہم ملاقاتیں اور مذاکرات ہوئے۔

آغا خان فاؤنڈیشن پاکستان کے ہیڈ آفس میں وزیرِ صحت اقبال حسن نے سی ای او اختر اقبال اور ان کی ٹیم سے ملاقات کی، جس میں انہیں وزارتِ صحت کا قلمدان سنبھالنے پر مبارکباد پیش کی گئی اور نیک خواہشات کا اظہار کیا گیا۔ ملاقات کے دوران گلگت بلتستان، بالخصوص دور دراز اور پسماندہ علاقوں میں معیاری طبی سہولیات کی فراہمی، موجودہ نظامِ صحت کی مضبوطی، جدید طبی خدمات کے فروغ اور مشترکہ منصوبہ بندی جیسے اہم امور پر تفصیلی تبادلۂ خیال کیا گیا۔ اس موقع پر آغا خان فاؤنڈیشن پاکستان کی جانب سے گلگت بلتستان میں شعبۂ صحت کی ترقی کے لیے حکومت کے ساتھ بھرپور تعاون جاری رکھنے کے عزم کا اعادہ کیا گیا۔

بعد ازاں UNFPA کے ہیڈکوارٹر میں UNFPA pakistan ایڈوائزر ڈاکٹر میلانیہ اور کینیڈین سپورٹ پروگرام کی کوآرڈینیٹر مس لورا شیریڈن سے ملاقات ہوئی، جس میں ماں اور بچے کی صحت، فیملی پلاننگ، بنیادی مراکزِ صحت، طبی سہولیات کی بہتری، تکنیکی معاونت اور استعدادِ کار میں اضافے سے متعلق امور زیرِ بحث آئے۔

اس موقع پر وزیر صحت اقبال حسن نے کہا کہ حکومتِ گلگت بلتستان شعبۂ صحت میں پائیدار اصلاحات، جدید طبی سہولیات اور معیاری و عوام دوست خدمات کی فراہمی کو اولین ترجیح دیتی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ عالمی اداروں، ترقیاتی شراکت داروں اور معروف فلاحی تنظیموں کے تجربات اور مہارت سے استفادہ کرتے ہوئے، بالخصوص خواتین، بچوں اور دور دراز علاقوں کے مکینوں کے لیے طبی سہولیات کو مزید بہتر بنایا جائے گا۔

دونوں ملاقاتوں میں تکنیکی معاونت، تربیت، استعدادِ کار میں اضافے، مستقبل کے مشترکہ منصوبوں اور نظامِ صحت کو مزید مؤثر بنانے کے حوالے سے مثبت اور تعمیری گفتگو ہوئی۔

A meeting was held at the Directorate General Health Office, Gilgit-Baltistan, under the chairmanship of the Director General Health, with a delegation from National Institutes of Health (NIH) Islamabad under IDSR initiative, to discuss the establishment and strengthening of Public Health Research/Reference Laboratories (PHRLs) in Baltistan and Diamer regions along with strengthening/upgradation of the existing PPHRL in gilgit region
The NIH team in this regard visited RHQ Hospital Skardu, RHQ Hospital Chilas and existing PPHRL facilities at Gilgit to assess laboratory infrastructure and identify areas for strengthening.
Forum discussed the proposed designation of the Regional Virology Laboratory at RHQ Hospital Skardu and chilas, along with strengthening of the main pathology department, including specimen/sample collection, reception and serology facilities, as well as molecular and microbiology laboratory services.
NIH also assured technical, renovation and logistical support for the identified facilities. The initiative is aimed at strengthening disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, molecular and microbiological diagnostics, and public health preparedness and response in all regions of Gilgit Baltistan.

A National Conference on Health Emergency Preparedness and Response was held on 11 August 2026 in Islamabad, under supervision of Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination in collaboration with national and international health partners.The conference was attended by Minister of State ,Federal Secretary for Health, Director General Health Islamabad, Director General Health from provinces , Povincial representative as well as representative from partner agencies.
Participants reviewed the current health emergency situation, shared updates on provincial preparations regarding flood /monsoon emergency preparadness plans. The forum also discussed discused key priorities including emergency preparedness and response, surveillance systems, essential health services, and health information management.
The conference emphasized stronger coordination, effective partnerships, and collective action to build a more resilient and responsive health system across Pakistan.
Dr Malik Mukhtar Ahmed Bharath presented a token of appreciation to the Director General Health and his dedicated team in recognition of their outstanding contributions, committed leadership, and valuable efforts towards the development of a comprehensive and resilient health emergency preparedness plan.

One Health Coordination Meeting Strengthens Collaborative Response to Rabies Prevention and Dog Bite Management in Gilgit-Baltistan

One Health Coordination Meeting was held under the chairmanship of Director General Health Gilgit-Baltistan, Dr. Saleem Uddin, to strengthen interdepartmental coordination for the prevention and control of rabies and to address the growing public health concern of dog bites across Gilgit-Baltistan.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Commissioner’s Office, World Health Organization (WHO), Livestock Department, Local Government & Rural Development (LG&RD), Rescue 1122, Education Department, EPA and the Health Department Gilgit-Baltistan.

Participants reviewed the current situation of dog bites and emphasized the importance of adopting a comprehensive One Health approach, recognizing that effective rabies prevention requires coordinated action among the human health, animal health, local government, and education sectors.

During the meeting, it was agreed that the Livestock Department will strengthen its programme for the sterilization and neutralization of stray dogs, while the District Administration, in collaboration with local governments, will implement effective measures to manage and control the stray dog population across Gilgit-Baltistan.

To enhance public awareness, the Health Department, Education Department, Local departments and Livestock Department will jointly conduct community and school-based awareness campaigns on rabies prevention, responsible behaviour around animals, and the importance of seeking immediate medical care following dog bites. The World Health Organization (WHO) will provide technical assistance in the development of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) and training materials, while also supporting dog vaccination initiatives through its country office.

Addressing the participants, Director General Health Dr. Saleem Uddin reaffirmed the Health Department’s commitment to protecting public health and ensuring timely management of dog bite cases. He stated that Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV) and Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG) are available at designated health facilities across Gilgit-Baltistan. He further emphasized that the department will continue to strengthen the capacity of health facilities to ensure an effective response to rabies and other public health emergencies.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment from all stakeholders to work collectively under the One Health framework, strengthen intersectoral coordination, enhance public awareness, and implement sustainable measures to reduce dog bite incidents and eliminate the risk of rabies in Gilgit-Baltistan.

صوبائی وزیرِ صحت گلگت بلتستان، جناب اقبال حسن کی زیرِ صدارت محکمۂ صحت گلگت بلتستان کا ایک تفصیلی اجلاس منعقد ہوا۔ اجلاس میں سیکرٹری صحت جناب آصف اللہ خان، ڈائریکٹر جنرل ہیلتھ ڈاکٹر سلیم الدین اور محکمۂ صحت کے سینئر افسران نے شرکت کی۔

اجلاس کے دوران محکمۂ صحت کی مجموعی کارکردگی، جاری صحت عامہ کے اقدامات اور شعبۂ صحت سے متعلق اہم ترجیحات کا تفصیلی جائزہ لیا گیا۔ شرکاء نے صحت کی خدمات کی فراہمی کو مزید مؤثر بنانے، ادارہ جاتی کارکردگی میں بہتری، محکمہ کے مختلف شعبوں کے درمیان باہمی رابطے کو مضبوط بنانے، اور جاری و آئندہ صحت پروگراموں کے مؤثر نفاذ کے لیے مختلف امور پر تفصیلی غور و خوض کیا۔

اجلاس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے صوبائی وزیرِ صحت نے حکومتِ گلگت بلتستان کے عوام کو معیاری، قابلِ رسائی اور مؤثر صحت کی سہولیات فراہم کرنے کے عزم کا اعادہ کیا۔ انہوں نے شفافیت، جوابدہی، وسائل کے مؤثر استعمال اور باہمی تعاون کو صحت کے نظام کی مزید بہتری کے لیے ناگزیر قرار دیا۔

🇵🇰 برطانوی وفد کا آر ایچ کیو ہسپتال اسکردو کا دورہ، گلگت بلتستان میں لیبارٹری نظام کو مزید مضبوط بنانے پر اتفاق

صحت عامہ کے نظام کو جدید خطوط پر استوار کرنے اور تشخیصی خدمات کو مزید مؤثر بنانے کے سلسلے میں حکومتِ برطانیہ، UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA)، نیشنل انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف ہیلتھ (NIH) اسلام آباد اور وزارتِ قومی صحت، ضوابط و رابطہ کے اعلیٰ سطحی وفد نے 30 جولائی 2026 کو ریجنل ہیڈکوارٹر (RHQ) ہسپتال اسکردو کا دورہ کیا۔

وفد نے ریجنل بلڈ سینٹر (RBC) اور ہسپتال کی لیبارٹری کا معائنہ کرتے ہوئے موجودہ انفراسٹرکچر، تشخیصی سہولیات اور لیبارٹری کی استعداد کا جائزہ لیا۔ اس موقع پر گلگت بلتستان میں جدید، معیاری اور پائیدار لیبارٹری نظام کے فروغ سے متعلق مختلف امور پر تبادلۂ خیال کیا گیا۔

بعد ازاں وفد نے ڈائریکٹر جنرل ہیلتھ گلگت بلتستان، ڈائریکٹر ہیلتھ سروسز بلتستان اور میڈیکل سپرنٹنڈنٹ آر ایچ کیو ہسپتال اسکردو کے ساتھ اجلاس میں شرکت کی۔ میڈیکل سپرنٹنڈنٹ نے ہسپتال کی طبی و تشخیصی خدمات، لیبارٹری سہولیات اور بلتستان ڈویژن میں ہسپتال کے کردار پر تفصیلی بریفنگ دی۔

اجلاس کے دوران ڈائریکٹر جنرل ہیلتھ گلگت بلتستان نے محکمہ صحت کی ترجیحات پر روشنی ڈالتے ہوئے لیبارٹری خدمات کی ڈیجیٹلائزیشن، تشخیصی صلاحیتوں میں اضافے اور لیبارٹری عملے کی استعداد کار میں بہتری کو ناگزیر قرار دیا۔

وفد نے گلگت بلتستان میں لیبارٹری عملے کی تربیت، کوالٹی ایشورنس سسٹمز کے استحکام، انفیکشن پریوینشن اینڈ کنٹرول (IPC) کے فروغ اور الیکٹرانک لیبارٹری انفارمیشن مینجمنٹ سسٹم (eLIMS) کے پائلٹ نفاذ میں تعاون جاری رکھنے کے عزم کا اعادہ کیا، جس سے لیبارٹری خدمات، ڈیٹا مینجمنٹ اور پبلک ہیلتھ سرویلنس مزید مؤثر ہوگی۔

دورے کے اختتام پر تمام شراکت داروں نے گلگت بلتستان میں مضبوط اور پائیدار لیبارٹری و صحت عامہ کے نظام کی ترقی کے لیے باہمی تعاون جاری رکھنے کے عزم کا اعادہ کیا۔ یہ دورہ محکمہ صحت گلگت بلتستان، حکومتِ برطانیہ، UKHSA، NIH پاکستان اور وزارتِ قومی صحت، ضوابط و رابطہ کے درمیان مؤثر شراکت داری کا مظہر ہے، جس کا مقصد عوام کو معیاری، بروقت اور جدید طبی و تشخیصی سہولیات کی فراہمی ہے۔

اسکردو میں IDSR لیبارٹری نیٹ ورک کی پیش رفت کا دو روزہ جائزہ اجلاس منعقد

اسکردو: محکمہ صحت گلگت بلتستان کے زیرِ اہتمام Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) Laboratory Network Progress Review Meeting کا دو روزہ اجلاس 30 تا 31 جولائی 2026 اسکردو میں منعقد ہوا۔

اجلاس میں برطانیہ کی حکومت کے اعلیٰ سطحی وفد، یو کے ہیلتھ سکیورٹی ایجنسی (UKHSA)، نیشنل انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف ہیلتھ (NIH) پاکستان، وزارتِ قومی صحت، ضوابط و رابطہ (Ministry of NHSR&C)، جناب ڈاکٹر سلیم الدین، ڈائریکٹر جنرل ہیلتھ گلگت بلتستان، Public Disease Surveillance and Response Unit (PDSRU)، Public Health Reference Laboratory (PHRL) گلگت بلتستان کے نمائندگان اور گلگت بلتستان بھر کی 18 لیبارٹریوں کے فوکل پرسنز نے شرکت کی۔

اجلاس کے دوران گلگت بلتستان میں IDSR لیبارٹری نیٹ ورک کے قیام کے بعد ہونے والی پیش رفت کا تفصیلی جائزہ لیا گیا، درپیش چیلنجز پر تبادلۂ خیال کیا گیا، اور ایک مضبوط، حساس، مؤثر اور پائیدار لیبارٹری نگرانی کے نظام کے قیام کے لیے آئندہ کی ترجیحات کا تعین کیا گیا۔

اس موقع پر UKHSA اور NIH پاکستان کے ماہرین نے گلگت بلتستان میں IDSR لیبارٹری نیٹ ورک کے کامیاب قیام پر جناب ڈاکٹر سلیم الدین، ڈائریکٹر جنرل ہیلتھ گلگت بلتستان اور PDSRU کی ٹیم کو مبارکباد پیش کرتے ہوئے ان کی کاوشوں کو سراہا۔

اپنے خطاب میں جناب ڈاکٹر سلیم الدین، ڈائریکٹر جنرل ہیلتھ گلگت بلتستان نے حکومتِ برطانیہ اور UKHSA کا گلگت بلتستان میں لیبارٹری نگرانی کے نظام کے قیام اور اسے مضبوط بنانے کے لیے مسلسل تکنیکی معاونت پر دلی شکریہ ادا کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ بین الاقوامی شراکت دار اداروں کے تعاون سے صوبے میں صحت عامہ کے نظام کو مزید مؤثر اور جدید خطوط پر استوار کرنے میں نمایاں پیش رفت حاصل ہوئی ہے۔

اجلاس کے دوران برطانوی وفد اور UKHSA نے محکمہ صحت گلگت بلتستان کے ساتھ اپنے تعاون کو جاری رکھنے کے عزم کا اعادہ کرتے ہوئے صحت عامہ کی ہنگامی صورتحال سے نمٹنے کی استعداد میں اضافے، لیبارٹری نگرانی کے عملے کی استعدادِ کار بڑھانے، Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) اقدامات کے نفاذ، اور گلگت بلتستان کے ایک سرکاری ہسپتال میں Electronic Laboratory Information Management System (eLIMS) کے پائلٹ منصوبے کے آغاز میں تعاون کی یقین دہانی کرائی۔

آخر میں جناب ڈاکٹر سلیم الدین نے تمام قومی و بین الاقوامی شراکت دار اداروں کا شکریہ ادا کرتے ہوئے اس عزم کا اظہار کیا کہ گلگت بلتستان میں بیماریوں کی نگرانی، لیبارٹری نظام اور صحت عامہ کے ڈھانچے کو مزید مضبوط، مؤثر اور پائیدار بنانے کے لیے مشترکہ کاوشیں آئندہ بھی جاری رہیں گی..
