Together for a Drug-Free Future! | International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026
To mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (26 June 2026), the Pakistan Youth Organization (PYO), Mian Afzal Trust Hospital (MATH), Freedom Drug Treatment & Rehabilitation Centre, Gujranwala, and the GIFT Character Building Society (GCBS) successfully organized an awareness seminar at GIFT University, Gujranwala on 18 June 2026.
The seminar brought together students, faculty members, psychologists, and drug prevention professionals to discuss the importance of prevention, treatment, recovery, and resilience in addressing substance use.
Mr. Sana Ullah Rathore, President of PYO and Chairman of Mian Afzal Trust Hospital, highlighted that resilience is one of the strongest protective factors against drug use. He encouraged young people to make healthy choices and emphasized the importance of life skills, community awareness, and positive activities in preventing substance abuse.
Mr. Sufi Muhammad Javed, Director of Freedom Drug Treatment & Rehabilitation Centre, shared the centre's comprehensive services, including detoxification, rehabilitation, psychological counseling, follow-up care, and internship opportunities for psychology students.
The event also featured an engaging panel discussion where experts debunked common myths about drug use and treatment, answered questions from students, and encouraged open dialogue on addiction, recovery, and mental health. An interactive quiz added excitement to the programme, with prizes awarded to participants for their active involvement.
We sincerely thank GIFT University and the GIFT Character Building Society for their valuable collaboration in making this event a success.
Together, through awareness, education, and partnership, we can build healthier, safer, and drug-free communities.
