The most effective ways to prevent HIV include:
Practice safer s*x by using condoms correctly and consistently.
Limit s*xual partners and maintain mutually faithful relationships.
Never share needles, syringes, razors, or other sharp instruments.
Use only screened blood and blood products for transfusions.
Get tested for HIV if you are at risk, and encourage your partner to get tested.
Take PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) if you have a high risk of acquiring HIV, as advised by a healthcare provider.
Start PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) within 72 hours after a possible HIV exposure.
