CMV is a very common virus that infects people of all ages. Most healthy adults never know they have it because it usually causes no symptoms or only a mild illness with fever, fatigue, sore throat, headache, and swollen glands.
Once infected, CMV stays in the body for life and usually remains inactive. However, it can become serious in people with weakened immune systems, transplant recipients, and during pregnancy, where it may be passed to the unborn baby.
𝐂𝐌𝐕 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡:

𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞:
✔ Wash your hands regularly.
✔ Avoid sharing food, drinks, or utensils.
✔ Practice good hygiene, especially around young children.
✔ Practice safe s*x.
Most healthy people do 𝐧𝐨𝐭 require treatment. Antiviral medications are reserved for newborns with symptomatic infection and patients with weakened immune systems.
Early recognition is important, particularly during pregnancy or in immunocompromised individuals. If you have persistent fever, severe fatigue, swollen glands, or are at high risk, consult your healthcare provider for proper evaluation.
