A routine tooth extraction does not cause vision loss or permanently affect eyesight.

However, there are a few important exceptions:

* Temporary blurry vision can rarely occur due to the local anesthetic, anxiety, or an accidental spread of the anesthetic near the eye. This usually resolves within a few hours.

* Swelling around the upper jaw or eye area after an upper tooth extraction can make the eye feel uncomfortable, but it should not affect vision.

* Sudden vision changes, double vision, severe eye pain, or loss of vision after a dental procedure are extremely rare but require immediate emergency medical attention, as they may indicate a serious complication.
