BBMT-Pakistan Family at the National Seminar on World Hepatitis Day 2026
Proud to see the BBMT-Pakistan family actively participating in the World Hepatitis Day 2026 Seminar, jointly organized by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination and Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital (ANTH), Islamabad.
The national event was graced by Federal Minister for Health, Syed Mustafa Kamal, and Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, as Chief Guests.
The seminar brought together senior leadership from the Ministry of Health, including the Federal Health Secretary and Director General Health, along with representatives of WHO, development partners, health regulatory authorities, public and private healthcare institutions, the Prime Minister's National Hepatitis Programme, and leading experts, including Prof. Huma Qureshi and Prof. Saeed Akhtar, among others.
The gathering provided an important platform for policymakers, healthcare professionals, researchers, and development partners to deliberate on Pakistan's hepatitis burden and the collective efforts required for its prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and eventual elimination.
From BBMT-Pakistan, Prof. Shabnam Bashir, Dr. Farwa Sijjeel, Dr. Usman Waheed's participation in such national initiatives also reinforces an important message: blood safety remains an integral component of hepatitis prevention.
Strengthening voluntary blood donation, quality-assured screening, and safe transfusion practices must remain part of Pakistan's broader strategy towards hepatitis elimination.
Together, through collaboration and sustained national commitment, a hepatitis-free Pakistan is achievable.
