What is the role of the physiotherapist in stroke rehabilitation?

From 24 hours after a stroke, physiotherapists begin rehabilitation in short frequent spells, focused on getting out of bed, standing and walking. This repetitive task training helps people regain movement and relearn everyday activities. Physiotherapists use assistive equipment to enhance stroke rehabilitation.

What's involved in stroke rehabilitation?

Motor-skill exercises. Exercises can help improve muscle strength and coordination throughout the body.

Mobility training. You might learn to use mobility aids, such as a walker, canes, wheelchair or ankle brace.

Constraint-induced therapy.

Range-of-motion therapy.

A stroke, sometimes called a brain attack, occurs when something blocks blood supply to part of the brain or when a blood vessel in the brain bursts. In either case, parts of the brain become damaged or die. A stroke can cause lasting brain damage, long-term disability, or even death.
Some of the most important treatable risk factors for stroke are:
High blood pressure, or hypertension. Hypertension is by far the most potent risk factor for stroke. ...
Cigarette smoking. ...
Heart disease. ...
Warning signs or history of TIA or stroke. ...
Diabetes. ...
Cholesterol imbalance. ...
Physical inactivity and obesity.
Symptoms:
Numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg; Confusion or trouble speaking or understanding speech; Trouble seeing in one or both eyes; Trouble walking, dizziness, or problems with balance; severe headache with no known cause.
Treatment:
The main treatment for an ischemic stroke is a medicine called tissue plasminogen activator (tPA). It breaks up the blood clots that block blood flow to your brain. A doctor will inject tPA into a vein in your arm. This type of medicine must be given within 3 hours after your symptoms start.

BREAST CANCER
Doctors know that breast cancer occurs when some breast cells begin to grow abnormally. These cells divide more rapidly than healthy cells do and continue to accumulate, forming a lump or mass. Cells may spread (metastasize) through your breast to your lymph nodes or to other parts of your body.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF BREAST CANCER?

New lump in the breast or underarm (armpit).
Thickening or swelling of part of the breast.
Irritation or dimpling of breast skin.
Redness or flaky skin in the ni**le area or the breast.
Pulling in of the ni**le or pain in the ni**le area

AT WHAT AGE CAN YOU GET BREAST CANCER?

Younger women generally do not consider themselves to be at risk for breast cancer. However, breast cancer can strike at any age: 5% of breast cancer cases occur in women under 40 years of age. All women should be aware of their personal risk factors for breast cancer.

What is claw hand? Claw hand causes your fingers to bend in toward your wrist. You might see it referred to as ulnar nerve palsy. It can also make it hard (or impossible) for you to straighten all your fingers. This stuck flexed in position is what gives claw hand its name — your hand is frozen in a claw shape
You may notice discomfort in your hand if your ulnar nerve is injured, such as: Unusual sensations in your little finger and ring finger. Weakness and loss of coordination in your fingers. Pain, numbness, and less feeling in your hand and arm.
Claw hand is often treatable. With treatment, your symptoms may improve or completely disappear, depending on the cause and severity of your condition.

The L4-L5 motion segment may cause referred pain from the joints and/or muscles or radicular symptoms that travel through nerves. Referred pain from L4-L5 usually stays within the lower back and is typically felt as a dull ache. The back may also feel stiff.

Depending on the type and severity of the underlying cause, the L4-L5 motion segment may cause lumbar radicular pain of the L4 and/or L5 spinal nerves, also called sciatica.

A pr*****ed (herniated) disc occurs when the outer fibres of the intervertebral disc are injured, and the soft material known as the nucleus pulposus, ruptures out of its enclosed space.
INTERVERTEBRAL DISCS CAN PROLAPSE SUDDENLY BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE PRESSURE. EXAMPLES INCLUDE:
Falling from a significant height and landing on your buttocks. This can transmit significant force across the spine. If the force is strong enough, either a vertebra (bone) can fracture, or an intervertebral disc can rupture.
Bending forwards places substantial stress on the intervertebral discs. If you bend and attempt to lift an object which is too heavy, this force may cause a disc to rupture.

Knee pain may be the result of an injury, such as a ruptured ligament or torn cartilage. Medical conditions — including arthritis, gout and infections — also can cause knee pain. Many types of minor knee pain respond well to self-care measures. Physical therapy and knee braces also can help relieve pain.
Symptoms
The location and severity of knee pain may vary, depending on the cause of the problem. Signs and symptoms that sometimes accompany knee pain include:

Swelling and stiffness
Redness and warmth to the touch
Weakness or instability
Popping or crunching noises
Inability to fully straighten the knee
