Arm numbness or tingling that becomes worse when the arm is raised overhead may sometimes be related to compression of the brachial plexus or blood vessels in the thoracic outlet—the space between the neck, first rib, and surrounding muscles.
This educational image highlights the first rib, clavicle, anterior and middle scalene muscles, brachial plexus, and subclavian vein to show the anatomical area involved.
Physiotherapy may help with appropriate posture correction, mobility, stretching, nerve and muscle rehabilitation, and functional exercises, depending on the underlying cause.
⚠️ Important: Persistent numbness, weakness, swelling, color changes, or severe pain should be evaluated by a qualified healthcare professional before starting exercises.
