These surgeons have travelled thousands of miles for one reason: to give their patients better care.

Professor Dr Rizwan Khan, Associate Professor Dr Tabish Chawla, Assistant Professor Dr Saleema Begum and Assistant Professor Dr Imran Jalbani are currently in China, receiving hands-on training on the Toumai Surgical Robotic System at MicroPort.

They are accompanied by Ms Khairunnissa Nadeem, Senior Business Manager, Department of Surgery, and Mr Rahim Bhojani, Manager Purchase, who are helping prepare for the system’s implementation at The Aga Khan University Hospital.

Long hours of training, learning an entirely new system and practising every movement with precision—all so that when robotic surgery begins at AKUH, our patients can receive the best possible care.

Because behind every new technology is a patient hoping for less pain, a quicker recovery and the chance to return home sooner.

Our team is working hard in China today to make that possible for patients in Pakistan tomorrow.

That small ulcer in your mouth may be more than just an ulcer.

If you have a mouth sore that does not heal within two weeks, especially if it is accompanied by a change in voice, difficulty swallowing, unexplained weight loss, or a lump in the neck, it could be an early warning sign of head and neck cancer.

People who use gutka, naswar, paan, to***co products, smoke, or consume alcohol may be at a higher risk.

Early detection can save lives. Don't ignore the signs.

Surgery can be frightening. Many people still imagine a large cut across the abdomen or chest whenever they hear the word "operation."

But times have changed.

Today, many procedures can be performed using advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery—through small incisions that often mean less blood loss, less pain, smaller scars, and a faster recovery.

Urologists use these minimally invasive techniques to treat a wide range of conditions, helping patients get back to their normal lives sooner.

If you or someone you know needs surgery and is worried about a large incision, consult the urology experts at Aga Khan University Hospital. Our team can assess whether laparoscopic surgery is the right option for you and provide world-class care every step of the way.
