The final day of the KIKDA Students Volunteer Program – Summer 2026 (Batch 1) marked the successful conclusion of an inspiring and enriching learning journey for our young volunteers.

As part of the closing activities, students presented their findings and reflections based on the interviews they conducted with dialysis patients during the program. Through their presentations, they shared valuable insights into the lives of kidney patients, highlighting their daily struggles, emotional challenges, treatment journeys, and the resilience they demonstrate in the face of adversity.

Day 4 Highlights

Day 4 of the KIKDA Students Volunteer Program was focused on practical learning, community engagement, and fundraising activities.

The participants attended a First Aid Drill and Hands-on Practice Session, where they learned essential first aid techniques and emergency response procedures. All students actively participated in the practical exercises, gaining valuable experience in handling basic medical emergencies and enhancing their confidence in providing immediate assistance when required.

In addition to the training session, students took part in a Fundraising Activity aimed at supporting underprivileged kidney patients receiving treatment at KIKDA. Under supervision, the students made live telephone calls to potential donors and supporters, introducing KIKDA's mission and highlighting the importance of contributing towards life-saving healthcare services. The students enthusiastically engaged with donors, helping raise awareness and generate support for kidney patients who depend on free-of-cost treatment.

The day's activities provided students with a unique opportunity to develop both their practical healthcare skills and their understanding of the importance of fundraising and community support in sustaining charitable healthcare services.

Day 3 Highlights

Day 3 of the KIKDA Students Volunteer Program was filled with learning and practical knowledge.

An interactive session on Urology and Kidney Stone Prevention was conducted by Dr. Iqbal Nasim, Head of the Urology Department, KIKDA. During the session, students learned about the causes of kidney stones, preventive measures, healthy lifestyle practices, and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Iqbal Nasim also engaged with students through a question-and-answer session, making the learning experience highly informative and interactive.

The participants also attended a comprehensive Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training Session conducted by the team HOPES. Students were introduced to life-saving techniques and emergency response procedures, learning how to recognize and respond to critical situations. The session included practical demonstrations and hands-on learning opportunities, enabling participants to gain valuable skills that can help save lives in emergencies.

The day concluded with enthusiastic participation from all students, further strengthening their understanding of healthcare services and emergency care practices.

Day 2 of the KIKDA Students Volunteer Program – Summer 2026 was filled with meaningful learning experiences, patient interaction, and practical healthcare exposure.

Students visited KIKDA's Dialysis Units, where they were given a unique opportunity to interact one-on-one with dialysis patients. Through these heartfelt conversations, students gained a deeper understanding of the challenges, hardships, and day-to-day struggles faced by individuals living with chronic kidney disease. The session helped foster empathy, compassion, and awareness about the realities of long-term healthcare.

The students also participated in a brainstorming session and shared innovative fundraising and awareness ideas aimed at strengthening KIKDA's brand identity and expanding support for our mission of providing free healthcare services to deserving patients.

As part of the practical learning component, students received hands-on training in Blood Pressure Monitoring and Blood Sugar Testing. Under professional supervision, they learned the basic techniques and importance of these essential healthcare procedures, making the experience both educational and engaging.

Day 2 successfully combined compassion, learning, and practical exposure, helping students better understand healthcare, community service, and the importance of supporting patients in need.

The first day of the KIKDA Students Volunteer Program (SVP) – Summer 2026 commenced with great enthusiasm, curiosity, and engagement from our young participants representing leading schools across Karachi.

The day began with an insightful and informative session on Kidney Disease Prevention conducted by Prof. Dr. Khurram Daniyal, who shared valuable knowledge about kidney health, preventive measures, and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Students were then taken on a comprehensive Hospital Tour, where they visited various departments of KIKDA and gained firsthand exposure to the services provided by our dedicated healthcare teams. The visit enabled them to witness how KIKDA serves and cares for thousands of deserving patients with compassion, dignity, and excellence.

A special highlight of the day was an inspiring Motivational and Career Counseling Session delivered by Mr. Aamir Hirani, Board Member KIKDA, Founder of Hilm Foundation, and a renowned businessman. His words of wisdom encouraged students to pursue their goals with dedication, purpose, and a commitment to serving society.

Overall, it was an engaging, educational, and memorable start to the program, providing students with valuable learning experiences and a deeper understanding of healthcare, leadership, and community service.
