(Normal Causes):

(Disease Causes):
(Heart Failure)

🚽 Decreased Urine Output: When Is It Normal and When Is It a Sign of Disease?

Many people notice that they are passing less urine than usual and become concerned. However, not every case of decreased urine output is a sign of illness.

✅ Normal Causes of Reduced Urine Output
• Not drinking enough water
• Excessive sweating due to hot weather or exercise
• Fever
• Fasting or prolonged periods without fluid intake
• Vomiting or diarrhea causing dehydration

In these situations, the body conserves water by producing less urine, which is usually temporary.

⚠️ Disease-Related Causes
• Acute or Chronic Kidney Disease
• Urinary tract obstruction (such as kidney stones or enlarged prostate)
• Heart failure
• Severe infections (sepsis)
• Very low blood pressure or shock
• Certain medications that affect kidney function

🚨 Seek Medical Attention If:
❗ Urine output suddenly becomes very low or stops completely
❗ You develop swelling of the face, hands, or legs
❗ You experience shortness of breath
❗ There is blood in the urine
❗ Reduced urine output is accompanied by fever, severe pain, or extreme weakness

💡 Did You Know?
A healthy adult typically produces about 1.5–2 liters of urine per day, although this can vary depending on fluid intake, activity level, and weather conditions.

👨‍⚕️ Take-Home Message:
Decreased urine output may simply be due to dehydration, but it can also be an early warning sign of kidney disease or other serious medical conditions. Don’t ignore persistent or unexplained changes in your urine output.

UTI (Urinary Tract Infection)

🚨 Don’t Ignore a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)! 🚨

A Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is one of the most common infections affecting the urinary system, especially in women. While it may start with mild symptoms, delaying treatment can lead to serious complications, including kidney infection.

🔍 Common Symptoms of UTI:
✅ Burning or pain during urination
✅ Frequent urge to urinate
✅ Passing small amounts of urine repeatedly
✅ Cloudy, foul-smelling, or bloody urine
✅ Lower abdominal discomfort or pelvic pain
✅ Fever, chills, or back pain (may indicate kidney involvement)

💡 Who is at Higher Risk?
• Women
• Pregnant females
• People with diabetes
• Individuals with kidney stones
• Patients with urinary catheters

🛡️ How to Reduce Your Risk:
✔ Drink plenty of water
✔ Don’t hold your urine for long periods
✔ Maintain good personal hygiene
✔ Urinate after sexual activity
✔ Follow your doctor’s advice if you have recurrent UTIs

⚠️ When to See a Doctor?
If you have symptoms of a UTI, especially fever, flank pain, or blood in the urine, seek medical attention promptly. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent complications.

❤️ Your kidneys matter—take urinary symptoms seriously and prioritize your health.
