A new chapter in trauma and emergency care begins in Sukkur.

The Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma (SMBBIT) proudly inaugurated the state-of-the-art 50-bedded Trauma & Emergency Response Centre (T&ERC) at Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College & Civil Hospital, Sukkur.

Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho formally inaugurated the facility in the presence of Executive Director SMBBIT and his team, MNA Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Sukkur Mayor Barrister Arslan Islam Sheikh, Commissioner Sukkur Abid Saleem Qureshi, Deputy Commissioner Nadir Shahzad Khan, Principal Dr. Saleh Channa, DHO Dr. Ali Gul Shah, senior Health Department officials, and other distinguished guests.

The delegation toured the centre's advanced emergency and trauma care facilities, reaffirming the Government of Sindh and SMBBIT's shared commitment to expanding lifesaving trauma services and ensuring timely, quality healthcare for the people of upper Sindh.

A significant milestone in advancing trauma and emergency healthcare across Sindh. Executive Director, Dr. Muhammad Sabir Memon, along with the SMBB Institute of Trauma (SMBBIT) team, visited the newly established Trauma & Emergency Response Centre (T&ERC), Sukkur, ahead of its formal inauguration.

During the visit, strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with Prof. Dr. Saleh Channa, Principal, Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College, Sukkur, and Dr. Ahmed Mujtaba, Medical Superintendent, Civil Hospital Sukkur, reinforcing collaboration to strengthen trauma and emergency care services across northern Sindh.

The 50-bedded regional trauma centre will enhance access to timely, specialized trauma care, reduce referrals to Karachi, and support the Government of Sindh's vision of building an integrated, province-wide trauma care network that saves lives and improves emergency healthcare outcomes.

SMBBIT Successfully Conducts 12th TEAM®️ Course

The SMBB Institute of Trauma (SMBBIT), Karachi, successfully organized its 12th Trauma Evaluation and Management (TEAM®️) Course in collaboration with the American College of Surgeons (ACS).

We express our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Mayur Narayan, Chair, International Relations Committee, ACS Committee on Trauma, for his continued mentorship and invaluable support in promoting trauma education through the TEAM®️ program.

We are equally grateful to Dr. Sabir Memon, Executive Director, SMBBIT, for his steadfast commitment to fostering academic excellence and supporting educational initiatives that strengthen trauma care capacity.
