Two-Day Maternal & Fetal Medicine Workshop

Alhamdulillah, we had the opportunity to conduct a two-day Maternal & Fetal Medicine workshop at Jinnah Sindh Medical University / Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, which proved to be a truly enriching experience for all of us.

We were fortunate to learn from and alongside Dr Musarrat Hasan, Dr Hannah, Dr Veena, and Dr Erum Majid, whose insightful lectures made the sessions both practical and inspiring.

We are especially grateful for the encouragement and support of Prof Amjad Siraj and Dr Khalid Sher, whose leadership made this initiative possible.

What made this workshop special was the hands-on learning and the active participation of everyone involved. The positive feedback has been encouraging and reminds us how much we grow when we learn together.

InshaAllah, SJMFM W-9B will continue this journey as we explore maternal and fetal cardiac imaging in more depth.

Prof Sadiqua Jeffrey Maternal Fetal Medicine (SJMFM) department is the first public sector CPSP-recognized Maternal Fetal Medicine unit in Sindh , dedicated to providing advanced, evidence-based care for high-risk pregnancies. The unit is led by Dr. Erum Majid and Prof. Nighat Shah.

SJMFM serves as a center of excellence, offering a full spectrum of prenatal diagnostic and therapeutic services, including:
• Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) and amniocentesis
• Prenatal genetic diagnosis
• Screening programs for thalassemia, along with community awareness initiatives

The unit manages high-risk pregnancies on a daily basis, ensuring comprehensive and individualized care. Its strength lies in a multidisciplinary approach, with close collaboration with cardiology teams (ICD services) for optimal management of cardiac disease in pregnancy.

Beyond clinical care, SJMFM plays a vital role in education and training, contributing to the development of future specialists in Maternal Fetal Medicine under CPSP accreditation.

Through strong leadership, academic commitment, and patient-centered care, SJMFM continues to set a benchmark for maternal and fetal healthcare in the public sector.
