The story goes like this:
As a Body Ready Method Practitioner myself, I have assessed many expecting moms. And I know the value a pelvic floor therapist can offer to the community and I was looking for one to connect with and refer mothers to when needed as internal work on the pelvic floor is a specialised skill and not my scope of practice.
When I got to know that we have one passionate pelvic floor therapist offering this support in Lahore, I was super excited and connected to plan an online awareness session on pelvic floor health in Urdu. Alhamdulillah it was received with much love, and several women and docs reached out. Alhamdulillah.
One of the moms I'm working with told me that when she got herself assessed, the doctor released her diaphragm, and she had never breathed better before that. She says she can finally breathe better now since struggling for a long time. Her tailbone was slightly shifted, and that was addressed successfully, too.
It also got me wondering, I have assessed many women myself but never really got assessed myself from a physiotherapist ever or a pelvic floor therapist, also because very very few physiotherapists understand pelvic floor health from this perspective and it clicked to me more as a practitioner in Biomechanics myself, and since I have birthed 3 babies myself, I thought I should probably get to know how my own pelvic floor is doing after all that hard work!😇
I just want to put it put here, moms. Don't wait for any symptoms or problems, especially if you have given birth before. It doesn't matter if it was a Csection or a vaginal birth. I did not have any major symptoms but still decided to go with it to normalise it!
When the doctor examined me, though, she found some tight spots, which I never knew I had,but very common to have after pregnancy, and we'll be working on that. In shaa Allah.
Thankyou
for the work that you do.
