STAY INFORMED.

1️⃣ Up to 80% of ovarian cancer patients initially respond to chemotherapy, only to later relapse as tumors become resistant to treatment, or chemoresistant.
2️⃣ Cisplatin and carboplatin, decades-old cornerstones of cancer treatment discovered by MSU, work in ways scientists didn’t fully understand, and will continue to help patients.
3️⃣ Targeting a newly identified protein could help reduce the number of patients who become chemoresistant.

The researchers found that patients with lower levels of TPPP3 lived longer and responded better to treatment.

The discovery also helps explain why some patients are told they are cancer-free, only to see the disease return.

After her grandmother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Dr. Horibata made it her life’s work to understand why tumors initially respond to treatment but later come back stronger. Thank you Dr. Horibata!

The findings may also have broader implications. Because microtubules are essential in many healthy cells, this research could help scientists better understand some of chemotherapy’s most common side effects, including nerve damage, hair loss and hearing loss.

🎗️ The Link Between HPV, Cervical Cancer & Women’s Health

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers — yet thousands of women are still diagnosed late because early disease often causes no symptoms.

🔹 The main cause? Persistent infection with Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
HPV is very common, but certain high-risk types can slowly lead to cervical cancer over time.

🔹 Early warning signs may include:
• Abnormal vaginal bleeding
• Bleeding after in*******se
• Persistent vaginal discharge
• Pelvic pain or lower back pain

💡 The good news?
Cervical cancer is highly preventable through:
✔️ HPV vaccination
✔️ Regular screening (Pap smear / HPV testing)
✔️ Early treatment of precancerous changes

🔹 This is not about stigma or blame.
Many women avoid screening because of fear, embarrassment, lack of awareness, or limited access to healthcare.

✨ The solution? Awareness, education & support.
Encouraging open conversations, routine gynecological checkups, vaccination, and timely screening can save lives.

💙 A simple screening test today may prevent cancer tomorrow.

💬 What can we do in our communities to improve awareness about HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening?

🎗️ The Link Between Ovarian Cancer & Women’s Health Awareness

Ovarian cancer is often called the “silent disease” because its symptoms can be subtle, vague, and easily ignored — until the disease has already advanced.

🔹 Persistent bloating is not always “just gas.”🔹 Feeling full quickly, pelvic discomfort, or unexplained fatigue should not be overlooked.🔹 Family history, genetics (like BRCA mutations), age, obesity, and hormonal factors can increase the risk.

💡 Early recognition matters.Unlike many cancers, ovarian cancer has no reliable routine screening test for the general population. Awareness of symptoms can save lives.

🔹 This conversation is not about fear or blame.Women’s health is influenced by biology, access to care, education, lifestyle, and timely medical support.

✨ The solution? Awareness, support & early action.Encouraging regular gynecological checkups, healthy lifestyle habits, physical activity, and open conversations about symptoms can make a real difference.

💙 Sometimes the most powerful support is simply listening, encouraging, and helping someone seek medical advice early.

💬 What is one way we can improve awareness about ovarian cancer in our families and communities?

The link between obesity, estrogen & uterine cancer

Obesity is one of the strongest risk factors—but stigma often keeps people from getting the support they need.

🔹 Fat cells produce estrogen.
More body fat = more estrogen = higher risk.

🔹 This isn’t about blame.
Health is shaped by many factors—not just personal choice.

✨ The solution? Support, not shame.
Let’s create space for informed, sustainable health choices.

one way you can encourage loved ones to make healthy lifestyle choices, like maintaining a healthy weight, staying physically active, and understanding how obesity can increase the risk of uterine cancer.

💬 How can you support someone in making healthier choices?
