PCOS can make conception more difficult by causing irregular periods and absent or unpredictable ovulation. However, with timely diagnosis, personalised treatment and proper medical support, many women with PCOS can conceive and have healthy pregnancies.

During pregnancy, PCOS may be associated with an increased risk of 𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀, high blood pressure and pre-eclampsia, so closer monitoring may be recommended.

The due date calculated from regular periods and an early pregnancy scan is usually the most reliable. Third-trimester ultrasounds mainly assess the baby’s growth, weight, movements and amniotic fluid—not reset the delivery date.

A difference of two to three weeks can be normal, as ultrasound estimates pregnancy weeks from the baby’s measurements.
