𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝘀 𝗚𝗮𝘀!

Severe abdominal pain—especially pain that radiates to the back and is accompanied by nausea or vomiting—may be a sign of 𝗔𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀.

Gallstones are a common cause, while high triglycerides, certain medications, high calcium levels, and excessive alcohol intake can also contribute.

⚠️ Don’t ignore severe or persistent abdominal pain. Timely medical assessment and diagnosis are important.

Experiencing abdominal pain but unsure which specialist to consult? The answer depends on the underlying cause of your pain.

🔴 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗲𝗲 𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗼𝗻:
If your abdominal pain is severe, starts suddenly, or may be related to a surgical condition such as appendicitis, gallstones, or bowel obstruction, urgent medical assessment is essential, and a surgeon may need to be involved.

🔵 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗲𝗲 𝗮 𝗚𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁:
If your abdominal pain is associated with digestive problems, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), loose motions, or recurring gastrointestinal symptoms, a gastroenterologist may be the appropriate first specialist to consult.

⚠️ 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿: Severe or sudden abdominal pain requires prompt medical attention. In some cases, both specialists may need to be involved.

The most important thing is to receive a timely diagnosis and proper medical evaluation from the appropriate specialist.

Both open and laparoscopic hernia repairs are effective, but the right approach depends on the hernia type, size, previous surgery, patient’s fitness, and surgeon’s expertise. Laparoscopic repair may offer smaller incisions, less pain, and faster recovery in selected patients.

Yellowing of the eyes or skin along with 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 can be a sign of jaundice. However, jaundice is not a disease itself—it can have several underlying causes.
Jaundice may occur due to 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀. It can also develop due to a 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 caused by gallstones or narrowing of the duct, known as a stricture.
🔹 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿-𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗷𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗲
A gastroenterologist or hepatologist can investigate the underlying liver-related cause and recommend appropriate management.
🔹 𝗢𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗷𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗲
If jaundice is caused by gallstones, bile duct obstruction, or a stricture, both a gastroenterologist and a hepatobiliary surgeon may have an important role in diagnosis and treatment.
𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲
Not every case of jaundice should automatically be considered hepatitis. Proper investigation is essential to identify the exact cause and determine the right specialist and treatment.

Severe upper abdominal pain is not always caused by gas. It can sometimes be a warning sign of 𝗔𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀, a sudden inflammation of the pancreas that may require urgent medical attention.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀:
🔹 Gallstones (gallbladder stones)
🔹 Excessive alcohol intake
🔹 Certain medications
🔹 High triglyceride levels
🔹 High calcium levels

𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗜𝗴𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗲:
⚠️ Severe upper abdominal pain
⚠️ Abdominal pain spreading to the back
⚠️ Nausea and vomiting
⚠️ Severe or persistent abdominal discomfort

If you experience severe abdominal pain, especially with vomiting or pain radiating to the back, don’t simply assume it is gas. Timely evaluation by a qualified doctor can help identify pancreatitis and other serious causes of abdominal pain.

After laparoscopic procedures such as gallbladder or appendix surgery, some patients experience 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗟𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗣𝗔𝗜𝗡 — especially on the right side.

During laparoscopic surgery, gas is introduced into the abdomen to create space for the procedure. This can irritate the 𝗗𝗜𝗔𝗣𝗛𝗥𝗔𝗚𝗠 and cause 𝗥𝗘𝗙𝗘𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗣𝗔𝗜𝗡 in the shoulder due to shared nerve pathways.

✓ 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻-𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 can help
✓ Not every pain after surgery means a complication
✓ Persistent or worsening pain should be discussed with your doctor

If your pain does not settle or you are concerned about your symptoms, consult your doctor or visit the emergency department.

𝗟𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗸𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗮𝗱 𝗸𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗸𝘆𝘂𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗮 𝗵𝗮𝗶?

Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, or discomfort soon after gallbladder surgery may occur due to 𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. These symptoms are often temporary and improve as the effects of the medications wear off.

However, 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘃𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, inability to keep anything down, 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻, fever, or symptoms that continue for a longer period should not be ignored.

In rare cases, persistent symptoms may be a 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Early medical assessment can help identify the problem and allow timely treatment.

If your symptoms persist or worsen after gallbladder surgery, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 or visit the Emergency Department when necessary.

Your body may be trying to tell you something important. Seek medical advice if you experience:

🔹 Persistent abdominal pain
🔹 Unexplained weight loss without dieting or exercise
🔹 Noticeable blood in stool or vomit
🔹 Difficulty swallowing that gradually gets worse
🔹 Persistent vomiting or a noticeable change in bowel habits

Searching your symptoms on Google for months is not a substitute for proper medical evaluation. Timely consultation with a qualified doctor can help identify the cause and allow appropriate treatment at the right time.
