A proud milestone today. 🌟🌟🌟

Honoured to sign an MoU on behalf of Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital with Farshine to establish Pakistan’s first comprehensive medical 3D printing research and manufacturing collaboration.

The MoU was signed during a high-level Pakistan–China B2B Investment Conference, bringing together leading healthcare, pharmaceutical, medical device, and technology companies from both countries to foster research, innovation, and strategic investment.

This initiative aims to bring a full loaded 3D printing ecosystem with patient-specific instrumentation (PSI), custom 3D-printed implants manufacturing, and advanced surgical planning capabilities to Pakistan through a joint research program. If all goes as planned, this project has the potential to transform reconstructive surgery, orthopaedic oncology, and several other surgical specialties.

Grateful to my mentors Prof. Amer Aziz Prof Shahzad Javed for their trust, Farshine team and everyone who has contributed to making this vision a reality. Looking forward to the next phase.

Honored to have been invited as a speaker at the Bone Sarcoma Symposium at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre.

It was a privilege to share my work and perspectives on bone sarcoma management, and to engage in thought-provoking discussions with esteemed colleagues who are dedicated to advancing musculoskeletal oncology.

A special note of gratitude to Prof. Amer Aziz, whose presence and support meant more to me than words can express. It was a tremendous honor to have him attend my talk, and I am deeply grateful for his encouragement and mentorship.

Thank you to the organizers and everyone who contributed to an outstanding academic meeting. Looking forward to continued collaboration and learning as we strive to improve outcomes for our patients.

Osteosarcoma proximal tibia. Limb salvage done — but the real challenge isn’t the resection.

It is what comes after.

The tumor involved the tibial tuberosity — the anchor point of the patellar tendon, the structure that lets you straighten your knee. Without it, you’re left with a metal implant and no natural reattachment point for the extensor mechanism.

This matters more than it sounds. Contemporary data shows that reconstruction technique directly determines extension lag: direct tendon-to-metal gives the worst results (11°), synthetic augmentation better (5.7°), allograft reattachment better still (4.6°) — and autograft reconstruction the best of all (2.3°) and of-course all of these, in addition, were augmented and covered with gastrocnemius flaps. The biology of what you reattach with is everything.

We had no attachment tube, no allograft. So we recycled the patient’s own tuberosity — osteotomized it, pedicle-froze it in liquid nitrogen to sterilize it, and reattached it as a native bone-tendon unit onto the prosthesis. Gastrocnemius flap and STSG for coverage.

Pedicle freezing for reconstruction isn’t new — but using it specifically to recycle an isolated tibial tuberosity as an extensor anchor onto a PTR endoprosthesis, we haven’t found it described. It maybe our original.

🌟 Our first use of PSI and 3D printing in orthopaedic oncology at Ghurki trust 🌟

🔺This case involved a Secondary Peripheral Chondrosarcoma of the left anterior acetabulum/anterior column arising in MHE, associated with a proximal femoral Osteochondroma.

🦴 Procedure performed:
▪ PSI-guided Modified Type II Internal Hemipelvectomy
▪ Reconstruction with a custom CAD/CAM-designed 3D-printed hemipelvic endoprosthesis
▪ Total Hip Arthroplasty

A critical step in our workflow was the “Mock Surgery”. This dry run bridges the gap between digital planning and operative reality, allowing verification of osteotomies, guide positioning, implant fit, and reconstruction strategy before entering the operating room.

Evidence supports PSI being as accurate as Computer Navigation (often within 1–2 mm) while significantly streamlining the workflow. For pelvic tumors, where margins are everything, this technology is transforming how we approach limb salvage.

A step forward in the adoption of patient-specific oncologic reconstruction and 3D-printing technology in Pakistan. 🇵🇰 🌟

Managed a challenging iliosacral GCT involving the ilium, SI joint, and S1, with extension from L5 TP down to the S2 foramen.

The primary objective was an oncologically appropriate resection while managing the instability inherent to the lumbosacral junction.
We performed an internal hemipelvectomy (P1–P4) with a partial L5 vertebral resection, followed by lumbopelvic stabilisation using the spinopelvic instrumentation and pelvic ring reconstruction with a fibular strut graft.

Anatomical proximity to the neurovascular structures necessitated a rigorous, planned approach. Satisfactory stability achieved.

At Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital, our team successfully managed a challenging case of supra-acetabular metastasis secondary to Malignant Melanoma using the advanced AORIF technique (Ablation, Osteoplasty, Reinforcement & Internal Fixation).

This procedure has been performed the VERY FIRST TIME IN PAKISTAN.

This minimally invasive approach provided immediate stability, reduced surgical morbidity, and helped the patient begin early post-operative mobilization after months of limited mobility.

A proud step forward in advancing Orthopedic Oncology care with innovation, precision, and faster recovery for our patients.

At Ghurki trust, we are managing all kinds of bone and soft tissue tumors/ sarcomas; procedures ranging from simple core biopsies to complex endoprosthetic replacements and biological reconstructions.
