The Social Welfare Society (SWS) Khyber Medical College, in collaboration with IFMSA-KMC LC, successfully organized the final phase of Project Aman on 21st May 2026 at Khyber Medical College.
The event was designed as a comprehensive career counselling expo for orphanage students, aimed at guiding them toward informed academic and professional pathways.
A total of 150 students from orphanages including Khyber Kor, Bait-ul-Yatama, and SOS Children’s Village attended the expo.
The initiative sought to provide these students with exposure to diverse career opportunities and practical guidance regarding their future educational journeys.
The opening ceremony commenced with the arrival and seating of guests and participants, followed by Tilawat, the National Anthem, and welcome proceedings conducted by Muhammad Fawad and Husnain.
Informative brochures and pamphlets regarding various educational and career pathways were also distributed among all participants to help them better understand their future opportunities.
The session was graced by the worthy Dean of Khyber Medical College, Professor Dr. Mahmud Aurangzeb, along with Dr. Fida Hussain, Chairperson of the Social Welfare Society; Dr. Aliena Badshah, Focal Person IFMSA-KMC LC; Dr. Hina Salman; Dr. Samra Fakhar; Dr. Syed Ali Ashiq Hussain; Dr. Hajra Ishaq, Head of the Proctorial Board, along with other faculty members; and Muhammad Umar, General Secretary of the Social Welfare Society.
Their presence greatly encouraged both the organizers and participants.
One of the key highlights of the event was the military career guidance session delivered by the respected Director ISPR, Brigadier Asif Jehangir.
During his engaging address, he explained the pathways through which students can join the Pakistan Army, Air Force, and Navy, while also discussing the values of discipline, leadership, and national service. His session was highly interactive and received enthusiastic participation from the students.
Following this, the Dean of Khyber Medical College, Prof. Dr. Mahmud Aurangzeb, addressed the audience and appreciated the efforts of SWS and IFMSA-KMC LC for organizing such a meaningful initiative.
He emphasized the importance of career counselling for young students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, and highlighted how guidance and mentorship can play a transformative role in shaping futures.
After the opening session, students were divided into their respective counselling halls where parallel sessions were conducted across three major domains:
Pre-Medical
Pre-Engineering & Computer Science
Arts & Humanities
Expert counsellors from their respective fields provided detailed insights into academic pathways, admission processes, career scopes, and future opportunities.
The Pre-Medical session included guidance by Azam Saeed on MDCAT preparation, Ayesha Farooq on the MBBS pathway, Areeba Ali Shah on the BDS pathway, and Basharat Ali on Allied Health Sciences.
Simultaneously, the Arts & Commerce session featured discussions by Asma Yousaf on Business Studies, Mohibullah on Social Sciences, and Ahmad Faraz and M. Fayyaz on Law and CSS.
In the Engineering and Computer Science session, Ifrah Sehar discussed core engineering pathways while Saad Salman guided students regarding Computer Science and Engineering careers.
The closing ceremony was addressed by Dr. Hamza Mohmand, who encouraged the students to remain committed to their goals, work diligently for their futures, and continue believing in their abilities despite challenges.
At the conclusion of the event, guest speakers and counsellors were presented with commemorative appreciation shields by the Chairperson of SWS-KMC, Dr. Fida Hussain, in recognition of their valuable contributions toward the success of Project Aman.
The event concluded with closing remarks, refreshments, and an overwhelming sense of accomplishment, reflecting the dedication of SWS-KMC, IFMSA-KMC LC, and Muhammad Umar, General Secretary of the Social Welfare Society, toward educational empowerment, mentorship, and community welfare.
