Assalam-o-Alaikum

I Dr Ayesha Tahir fully support the National HPV Vaccination Campaign (15–27 September) to protect our daughters from cervical cancer. This vaccine is safe, effective, and endorsed by the WHO and our Ministry of Health.

About the HPV Vaccine (Cecolin)
• Type: Bivalent HPV (16,18) vaccine
• Made in: China (Xiamen Innovax Biotech)
• How given: One intramuscular injection in the upper arm
• Who needs it: Girls aged 9–14 years (single dose)
• Purpose: Prevents cervical cancer

Safety & Side Effects
• Common: Mild pain, redness, or fever
• Occasional: Headache, fatigue, nausea, rash
• Contraindications: Pregnancy, allergy to vaccine
• Global use: Over 55 million doses given worldwide, with extremely rare side effects (none requiring hospitalization).

Cervical cancer takes the lives of 3,000+ women in Pakistan every year — but this is one disease we can prevent with a vaccine.

The HPV vaccine has been safely used for nearly 20 years, including in many Muslim countries (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Indonesia, Bangladesh, etc.) with full support from health authorities and scholars.

Let’s come together and protect our daughters from a preventable tragedy. Please get them vaccinated.
