The pajamas I sleep in made me a more consistent runner. No, really!
Don’t worry, I didn’t fall for a magic pajama scheme. It’s just a simple system, the kind that sounds too small to actually work. But it does!
Here was my problem. To run at all, I had to get out the door before the kids woke up wanting breakfast. So I’d sneak out of the room in my pajamas, then try to creep back in for my workout clothes without waking anyone. That tiptoe-back-in step never worked. Kiddos would hear me and wake up demanding early breakfast.
Then I changed one thing: I slept in my workout clothes. (Comfy ones, of course!) I’d wake up already dressed and ready to go. Wash my face, do my hair, hit the ground running. I’d be back in time to take a quick shower and serve breakfast.
That’s it. One small change, and it made all the difference. This past month I ran a 15K virtual challenge (three 5Ks spread across May) which is a wild amount of running for me! I couldn’t have imagined completing that challenge just a few months ago.
So here’s my question for you: what’s the one small thing standing between you and the healthy life you want? Maybe it isn’t willpower. Maybe it’s just a little friction you can design out, so the healthy choice becomes the easy one.
That’s exactly what our new Systems blog is about. Link in bio. 💕
Big thanks to my sister-in-law for the comfy running outfit, and to Girls Run West for a challenge that genuinely kept me going!
