We spend so much time looking for God somewhere “out there.”
But what if God has been speaking to us all along through the beauty of nature, through the people we meet, through every act of love, kindness, and truth?
For years I searched outside myself. Then I realized that discovering who I truly am isn’t an act of selfishness. It’s an act of stewardship.
A lamp wasn’t created to be hidden under a basket. It was made to shine.
Each of us carries a unique light, a unique calling, a unique way of serving the world. When we bury our gifts out of fear, doubt, or the desire to fit in, the world loses something only we could have offered.
Perhaps our greatest sin is not always what we do. Perhaps it’s what we never dare to do, even though God planted the seed in our hearts and gave us everything we needed to make it grow.
I don’t believe we are separate from God. I find God most clearly in creation, in love, in compassion, in people, and in the courage to become who we were created to be.
The more we become our true selves, the brighter we shine. And the brighter we shine, the easier it becomes for others to find their way.
Don’t hide your light.
The world needs it.
