Lately I’ve been thinking about how much of what supports us happens outside of a therapy room.
In gardens.
Around tables.
In the company of people we love.
In movement.
In making things.
In being outside.
In laughing, eating, resting, playing, feeling and simply being part of life.
It is the creation of life and being part of it right?
I don’t believe we are meant to avoid the fragile parts of being human.
Life will touch us.
Sometimes beautifully. Sometimes painfully.
And perhaps the work isn’t to become so regulated, healed or protected that nothing can reach us.
Perhaps it’s learning how to stay connected to ourselves while allowing ourselves to be touched by life.
This is something I think about in my work, but also something I try to remember in my own life.
To participate.
To notice.
To connect.
To come back to what is real.
Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the ordinary ones.
What are the ordinary things that bring you back to yourself?
A person?
A place?
Making something?
Being outside?
Moving your body?
Sitting around a table with people you love?
I’d love to hear yours 🤍
