A lump on your wrist? Doesn’t necessarily mean you need surgery!

Case Sharing
First visit (Jan 10): A 37-year-old male patient had developed a “ganglion cyst” on his left wrist for 4–5 months. It appeared swollen and felt relatively firm when pressed. Western medicine recommended surgical treatment.

Later, upon a colleague’s recommendation, he visited HTCM and tried one session of Liu-style acupuncture therapy.
👉 Follow-up visit (Mar 25): He reported that the cyst had noticeably shrunk. Most importantly, the need for surgery was ruled out!

In Western medicine, common treatments for ganglion cysts include observation or surgical removal. However, these small lumps on the wrist don’t always require surgery. Surgical treatment carries risks such as recurrence, postoperative scarring, and potential impact on joint mobility.

What many people don’t realize is that acupuncture can offer a simple and effective approach to treating ganglion cysts, and are widely used in clinical practice. Liu-style acupuncture works through targeted intervention, by promoting circulation, unblocking meridians, and accelerating the absorption of accumulated fluid. Compared to surgery, it is relatively gentle and involves a faster recovery period. It helps you avoid surgical trauma, reduce the risk of scarring, and achieve better cosmetic outcomes. At the same time, it aims to improve overall body condition and reduce the likelihood of recurrence.

Although ganglion cysts are common benign conditions, if they continue to grow or affect appearance and function, it’s advisable to seek proper treatment early for better recovery outcomes.
