Sorry Malayalis, but hear me out before you come for me.

As someone who works closely with mothers and babies, one thing I deeply admire is the importance traditionally placed on caring for both mother and baby during the postpartum period.

So much attention naturally goes to a new baby. Seeing traditions where the mother's recovery and care are also given importance is something that means a lot to me.

That said, after this sadya…

the food comes very, very close.

Happy Onam from all of us at SEYOL!

Have you seen this traditional baby-care practice before?

This is Atta Loi, a practice commonly associated with North Indian families. It has traditionally been used to help remove fine body hair and dead skin from a baby's body.

With a baby's delicate skin, gentleness matters. Traditional practices should be approached carefully and with attention to the ingredients and technique being used.

Seeing Atta Loi for the first time? Save this Reel for later.

Sometimes it’s the smallest things.

I spotted these chickens while I was on my way to my client’s home in Singapore, and for a moment, it felt like I was back in India.

It made me happy enough that I had to stop and film it to show you too.

What’s something small that instantly reminds you of home?

Blocked little noses can be uncomfortable, and this is one baby-care tool parents may find useful.

A baby nasal aspirator uses suction to help remove nasal mucus. This one comes with a protective cap and a soft, flexible tip.

Use it gently and always follow the instructions for your specific aspirator.

Save this for your baby-care kit.

A little preparation can make feeding time more comfortable.

Before you sit down, keep the things you may need within easy reach: a breastfeeding pillow, back support, footrest, water, your phone and other essentials.

It means fewer moments of realising what you need only after you've already settled down.

Save this setup for your next feed.

Someone called our class “fake.”

But before defending ourselves, we wanted to acknowledge why they felt disappointed.

They were one of the first people to register for our Baby Massage & Bath Class and were genuinely eager to attend. Unfortunately, when class day arrived, they couldn't get into the Google Meet.

We tried to help, but they still missed the class.

For that, we're genuinely sorry.

We'll look at what we can improve from our side so future participants have a smoother experience joining us.

But there is one small correction.

SEYOL is real. The class was real. And yes, it happened.

Parents joined us, learnt with us and asked plenty of questions.

And we're not stopping there. SEYOL Classes are continuing weekly.

If you missed this one, there will be another opportunity to learn with us.

Some goodbyes are a sweet kind of pain.

In 2024, I supported this family for four months with their first baby.

Then came the wonderful news that they were expecting their second. I had the opportunity to support them again, and today marked the end of another six months together.

When you spend so much time caring for a baby, you notice the smallest changes.

At first, they simply look at you. Then slowly, you see them roll over, sit up, smile when they recognise you, and eventually reach towards you when it's time for you to leave.

And then one day, it is your turn to leave.

Every service has to come to an end, but that doesn't make saying goodbye easy.

So I will accept this sweet pain, keep the memories with me, and continue my journey with the next family who needs me.

Some families stay with you long after the service ends.

Last Saturday, we completed our Baby Massage & Bath Class.

But some of the most interesting moments came afterwards, when parents started asking questions.

When should massage be done? What setup should be used for bath time? What happens if baby is sleeping?

It reminded us that parents don't necessarily lack information. There is plenty of it available.

What they often want is clarity on what to follow and how to actually do it in real life.

So this isn't our last class.

We're just getting started.

SEYOL Classes are continuing. A new topic, every week.

Follow SEYOL to see what's next.

You saw the herbal water I carry with me during the day, and one of you asked how I make it.

So here it is.

My Golden Tea, made simply with cinnamon, cardamom and cloves.

A very simple part of my routine, and now you know exactly how I prepare it.

Save this if you want to try the recipe later.

What from my daily routine should I show you next?

Traditional Indian baby care, adapted for families today.

SEYOL provides Infant Massage & Bath support in the comfort of your home in Singapore.

Our care is rooted in traditional Indian practices while allowing families to make choices based on their preferences.

A typical routine may include infant massage, followed by bath, optional sambirani where preferred, then thoroughly drying, dressing and swaddling baby before safely handing baby back to the parent.

Every family is different, so the care does not have to look exactly the same in every home.

Looking for Infant Massage & Bath support in Singapore? DM BABYCARE to enquire about our packages.
