Dr Joline Lim was invited to speak at a specialist oncology meeting in Penang, Malaysia, on 23 September.

She delivered a session titled "Identify the TRU Driver", discussing the use of oral targeted therapy for breast cancers with tumor mutations in the PI3K/PTEN/AKT pathway. This was followed by an interactive panel discussion alongside fellow oncologists from the region, sharing local best practices.

Precision medicine is an integral part of treatment decisions today in breast cancer, helping to improve patient outcomes and quality of life. It was a valuable regional conversation on cancer care, and a good opportunity to exchange ideas and experience across borders.

On 29 August, Fashion For Cancer 2026 took place at The Westin Singapore for An Evening of Courage and Resilience. ✨

26 cancer patients and survivors walked the runway as Model Ambassadors. Baey Yam Keng, Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth, and Janice Koh, actress and former Nominated Member of Parliament, were among those present. Janice Koh and Joanna D**g, who performed, are among the survivor-ambassadors.

Fashion For Cancer was founded by Ong Bee Yan in memory of her son, Rong Liang, who passed away from pancreatic cancer at 38, two weeks after the inaugural event in 2023. She wanted to bring positivity and hope to people living with cancer, "even if it is just for a day."

Dr. Choo Su Pin spoke at the scientific exchange meeting "From Evidence to Practice: Navigating Immunotherapy Decisions in Gastric and Gastroesophageal Adenocarcinoma," held on 2 September 2026 at Conrad Singapore Orchard. The meeting was organised by BeOne Medicines in support of the Singapore Society of Oncology.

Dr. Choo presented "HER2-Positive GEA – Present and Future," alongside fellow speakers Dr. Hirokazu Shoji from the National Cancer Center Hospital, Tokyo, and Dr. Matthew Ng, under the chairmanship of Dr. Yong Wei Peng. The evening covered evolving immunotherapy strategies in HER2-negative gastric cancer and HER2-positive GEA, with case sharing and panel discussions translating the latest evidence into the Singapore clinical setting.

Dr Yvonne Loh spoke at the scientific symposium "The Role of MRD in the Treatment Strategy for Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)," held on 12 September 2026 at the Lotte Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City. Organised by the Blood Transfusion Hematology Hospital and Astellas, the seminar brought together around 60 hematologists from across Vietnam.

Dr Loh presented on "MRD in the Management of Acute Myeloid Leukemia: From Molecular Biology Testing to Clinical Application," alongside fellow speakers Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Xinh and Dr. Huynh Van Man, and closed with a panel discussion. She noted it was a valuable opportunity for interaction and mutual learning among hematologists from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, many of whom she has known for over 10 years.

Cancer may sometimes feel like an impossible maze. From diagnosis, to choosing the right treatment, to navigating affordability in Singapore's healthcare landscape, every step can feel overwhelming.

At a seminar conducted by Manulife Financial Advisors, Dr Joline Lim broke down the science and latest advancements in cancer care. She also shared the journey patients typically go through, how treatment can be made more accessible, and, most importantly, how lifestyle changes can help prevent cancer.

Prevention is always better than cure, and the more openly we talk about it, the less daunting the journey becomes.

Dr Joline Lim was invited by the Taiwan Breast Cancer Society (TBCS) to share her experience in the management of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.

Moderated by TBCS President Prof Fang-Ming Chen, the webinar covered a patient's cancer journey from endocrine-sensitive to endocrine-resistant disease, discussing the changes in treatment paradigms as novel targeted therapies are approved in rapid succession. It was a wonderful evening of academic exchange and an opportunity to understand best practices in different community settings across Singapore and Taiwan.
