Some sessions just fill your heart. 🧡

He warned me not to eat the “gummies” because they’re poisonous inside, refused to go outside because “it will rain,” and was the only kid who actually kept his eyes closed during the matching game. 🙈

Every little moment is a window into how his mind works — curious, logical, and so full of personality.
45 minutes of sorting, matching, throwing, and sneaking in one last game after the alarm. 😄

Growth looks different every day, and I’m here for all of it. 🌱

🧠 Every child is constantly reading the room, but sometimes they need a little help understanding what they’re seeing (and what they’re showing).

In this session, we explored the nuances of social dynamics:

🗺 He mapped out his entire class: identifying friendship groups, social leaders, and where conflict tends to brew. His observational skills? Genuinely impressive.

⚖️ We sorted behaviours into what builds real connection vs. what can quietly push people away, and he got it more right than wrong.

💡 The biggest insight of the day: there’s often a gap between what we think we’re communicating and how others actually receive it. Recognising that gap? That’s where growth begins.

Social skills aren’t about being the most popular person in the room. They’re about feeling like you belong — and helping others feel that way too. 💛

📖 3 Reading Habits We Always Recommend for Early Learners

Building strong reading foundations starts with the right daily habits, and it doesn’t have to be complicated.

Here’s what we always come back to:

1. Read aloud together. 📣
Hearing fluent, expressive reading helps early learners connect sounds to words and develop comprehension, even before they can read independently.

2. Make it a routine, not a task. 🕐
Consistency matters more than duration. Even 10–15 minutes of reading at the same time each day builds habit, focus, and a positive relationship with books.

3. Ask questions, not just for answers, but for thinking. 💭
“What do you think will happen next?” or “Why did the character do that?” encourages deeper engagement and strengthens critical thinking from an early age.

Small habits, big impact. These are the building blocks we use every day in our work with learners at The Learning Nest SG.
