ICPR7: When Practice and Research Meets 🌍

As part of our commitment to furthering research within the social service & counselling sector, we had the privilege of co-hosting the 7th International Conference on Practice Research (ICPR7) with .sg.

We were also honoured to welcome our Guest of Honour, Minister for Social and Family Development, Masagos Zulkifli from - who opened the Conference alongside a global community of practitioners, researchers, policymakers and Experts by Experience.

Fresh from celebrating our 60th Anniversary, we jumped straight into another milestone: co-hosting the 7th International Conference on Practice Research (ICPR7) with .sg

Fresh from our 60th Anniversary celebrations, our team jumped straight into another milestone - 3 days, 300+ delegates, 20+ countries, and countless conversations and ideas exchanged. (Shoutout to our team who made these possible!)

From thought-provoking sessions and shared learning to the lighter moments in between, ICPR7 reminded us of what becomes possible when research, practice and lived experience come together.

We’re grateful to have been part of it. Here’s to continuing the conversations beyond the conference. 💚

We handed the mic to some of our guests and asked them to share their birthday wishes for our 60th Anniversary! Here's what they had to say. 💚

🎉 Celebrating 60 Years of Counselling and Care Centre

Earlier this month, we marked a meaningful milestone in our journey with an evening alongside President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, partners, friends and the many people who have shaped CCC over the past six decades.

More than an anniversary, it was a celebration of the partnerships and shared purpose that continue to strengthen the counselling and social service sectors in Singapore.

To everyone who joined us, contributed to our fundraising, and to our Clinical and Corporate teams who worked tirelessly behind the scenes while continuing to care for our clients and trainees - thank you. 💚

As we look towards the next chapter, we carry forward the same shared purpose that has brought us this far, and that will continue to inspire our mission of strengthening systemic care together.

Our counselling centre at Hong Lim Complex holds a special place in our memories. It's where generations of therapists, trainees and clients have walked through our doors.

Some remember the shelves in our Training Wing lined with well-loved books. Others remember the carpeted rooms in our Counselling Wing, where difficult conversations became a little easier.

Through the many comings and goings, one thing remained the same: a space where people could come to be heard, understood and supported.

In celebration of , we share four stories from across the decades - reminders of what a space to be heard can make possible:

• A space to begin healing
• A space to find language for conflict
• A space to process the work of helping others
• A space to find hope amidst life's uncertainties

Have a fond memory at our office in Chinatown? Would love to hear them below. ☺️

🏠 Our story began as a small pilot initiative on Penang Lane in 1966, with the simple goal of providing a safe space for people to seek support.

Then, counselling was hardly recognised as a profession in Singapore.

🎓 Led by Anthony Yeo, CCC's pioneering team had a fervent desire to challenge that status quo. They held steadfast to what seemed like an ambitious vision then: to establish counselling as a respected profession and a force for social good.

That vision grew us into Singapore's oldest counselling centre, helping shape the profession through counselling services, training, supervision and systemic practice.

60 years on, the heart of our work remains unchanged: a commitment to anyone who walks through our doors - to be heard, understood, supported. This journey would not have been possible without those who have walked alongside us - we honour the pioneers, practitioners and clients who have been part of CCC.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mother figures, and to those who gave us life, love, patience, and care - even while growing through life themselves. 🤍

We sat down with our therapists for an honest conversation about how deeply human their experiences with motherhood have been.

Equal parts rewarding and humbling, we also spoke about navigating your identity as a mother within your relationships, family, and community.

We unpack more reflections on motherhood on our podcast, Reality Bites. 🌷

If you’d like to watch the full episode, comment or DM us the word “MOTHERHOOD” and we’ll send the link over ASAP!

Have you heard? We’re celebrating our 60th Year Anniversary this year!

We kicked it off in Q1 this year with our very own Systemic Learning Fest, hosted by our clinical team. Over 2 days, practitioners across the sector were offered 2 workshop tracks: Supervision and Counselling.

Described by our practitioners as interactive and practical, we were glad to hear they walked away with the goal for our event:

🙇🏻‍♂️ To deepen conversations and therapeutic work with our clients
👥 To support fellow practitioners better.

Thank you to everyone who joined us— and stay tuned as we share more about our big 60!

💬 The Debrief | KL Workshop Recap - with

Hello from Kuala Lumpur, with our neighbouring friends! 🇲🇾 Our workshop recap in numbers: 2 days, 20 clinicians, 1 shared commitment - to show up better for couples sitting across from them in the therapy room.

In this run of Working with High-Conflict Couples, we had the privilege of hosting psychiatrists, counsellors, and clinical psychologists for an intensive workshop - exploring how conflict is rarely just about conflict, but about unmet attachment needs showing up in the only way they know how.

Thank you to participants for showing up with great enthusiasm through the questions asked, and discussions we had. As our workshop speaker Mr Tony Ong put it - it was truly a joy!

🤝🏼 Partnership Spotlight | X Counselling and Care Centre

We're proud to formalise our collaboration with Project Green Ribbon - a non-profit walking alongside youths aged 13-25 in crisis, building a community where mental health is a priority and every young person feels seen, valued, and supported.

CCC comes alongside that mission with counselling and case management - because we believe, too, that every vulnerable youth deserves a team committed to their well-being.

What makes this partnership meaningful is a shared belief in long-term, family-inclusive care. Supporting a youth means supporting the system around them - and that's exactly how both CCC and PGR will continue to approach this work.

A heartfelt thank you to Senior Parliamentary Secretary Mr Eric Chua for gracing the occasion. It means a lot to have this work recognised. 🎗️
