Does this sound familiar?
Your child seems to manage well at school, but once they're home, the smallest request leads to tears, frustration, or a big reaction.
After spending hours listening, focusing, navigating social situations, coping with sensory input, and moving between activities, some children simply have very little capacity left by the end of the day.
Try giving them a chance to eat, rest, move, or enjoy some quiet time before asking about their day or starting homework. A predictable after-school routine can also help make the transition easier.
đź’› If these big emotions are happening regularly or affecting everyday family routines, our Occupational Therapy team can help understand what may be contributing and develop strategies tailored to your child.
