Making friends doesn't come naturally for every child—and that's okay.

Friendships are built through many small social skills that develop over time.

Children learn how to start conversations, read body language, take turns, solve disagreements, and build meaningful connections.

These are skills that can be explicitly taught, practised, and strengthened.

Our Social Groups provide a safe, supportive environment where children can build confidence while developing real-life social skills.

Does this sound familiar?

Your child seems to manage well at school, but once they're home, the smallest request leads to tears, frustration, or a big reaction.

After spending hours listening, focusing, navigating social situations, coping with sensory input, and moving between activities, some children simply have very little capacity left by the end of the day.

Try giving them a chance to eat, rest, move, or enjoy some quiet time before asking about their day or starting homework. A predictable after-school routine can also help make the transition easier.

đź’› If these big emotions are happening regularly or affecting everyday family routines, our Occupational Therapy team can help understand what may be contributing and develop strategies tailored to your child.

Children don't just benefit from routines—they rely on them.

Knowing what comes next helps reduce uncertainty, lowers anxiety, and supports smoother transitions throughout the day.

Predictable routines also encourage independence as children begin to anticipate and complete familiar tasks on their own.

đź’› If your child finds routines or transitions particularly challenging, our therapy team can help develop strategies that support success at home and school.

"What exactly is executive functioning?"

It's one of the questions we hear most from parents.

Executive functioning is a set of thinking skills that helps children plan, organise, remember information, stay focused, manage emotions, and complete everyday tasks.

When these skills are still developing, children may find it difficult to get started, stay organised, or cope with changes—even if they are bright and capable.

đź’› The good news? Executive functioning skills can be strengthened with the right support and strategies.

One of our favourite strategies our Educational Therapist learnt from the Orton-Gillingham Structured Literacy training! Using a simple door helps children understand the difference between open and closed syllables, making reading patterns easier to understand and not just memorise.

This is just one of the evidence-based strategies we use in Educational Therapy sessions.

Curious about Educational Therapy or how it could support your child? Send us a message!
