💬 How do youths perceive and engage with International Humanitarian Law today?

At the International Humanitarian Law Youth Dialogue, participants explored real-world case studies, exchanged perspectives on complex humanitarian dilemmas, and reflected on how trust, misinformation and the Fundamental Principles shape their understanding of IHL and humanitarian action. 🌏

Through open, youth-led discussions, they surfaced questions, concerns and ideas on how the Movement can engage youths more meaningfully and strengthen understanding of IHL in today’s complex information landscape.

Under the theme “Humanity Beyond Today”, Humanitarian Week 2026 brings together youths, humanitarian practitioners and partners to reflect on the challenges shaping humanitarian action today and in the future.

💬 How can we prepare together for an evolving and increasingly complex humanitarian landscape?

Held as part of Humanitarian Week 2026, the Better Together Dialogue brought Southeast Asian Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies together to reflect on the challenges their countries and the region may face over the next five years.

Delegates exchanged perspectives on emerging priorities and capacity needs, and explored how the Better Together Solidarity Fund could support National Societies in strengthening their capabilities and resilience across the region.

On 1 August, our Chapter leaders gathered at Red Cross House for the inaugural Red Cross Youth General Assembly to chart the future of youth-led humanitarian action.

The session included insightful panel sessions on advocacy, community engagement, and emergency preparedness, as well as collaborative focus groups. The assembly tackled pressing social issues, focusing on support for the elderly, migrant workers, and persons with disabilities, alongside blood donation, first aid, and digital advocacy. It concluded with the official signing of our Outcome Statement, pledging our shared commitment towards strategic community leadership.

A big thank you to our Chapter Leaders for your participation and valuable insights shared during the session! Your leadership is what transforms these joint pledges into real impact on the ground. 🙌
