This was a meaningful piece which I completed last year; commissioned as a gift to a beloved boss, colleague and friend, who is also an Avengers fan.

A line from this poem reads, “May your work be infused with passion and creativity, and have the wisdom to balance compassion and challenge” and this struck a chord with me, especially in this creative journey I chose to take 8 years ago.

If you’re still here, here’s wishing you a blessed new year! Haven’t been posting much but I promise I’m still doing a fair bit of calligraphy behind the screen. 😊

P.S.: The border of this piece was decorated with monograms of the receiver’s initials. Can you see what the initials are?

The best part about writing live, to me, is seeing the receivers’ eyes light up when they receive the item with my writing on it. There is no time to draft or make everything “perfect” given the time and physical constraints, but there is beauty in the raw and unrehearsed — it adds life and soul to mere words, and I guess that’s what calligraphy is all about.

Joyeux Noël (pronounced in French: zhwa yeu noh ehl; literally: Joyous Christmas). Christmas is about giving and spreading joy, and this year as we are coming out of the dreaded pandemic, I am loving how the Christmas spirit is up all over town. I’m also grateful for the opportunity to bring a festive cheer to someone with these cards I so enjoyed creating.
