Introducing our new Board Chairperson Martin 🤗

Dr Martin Chio is a dermatologist at the National Skin Centre Singapore. In his role as quality director, he leads initiatives in clinical governance, patient safety and value-based care. Martin is also an educator and clinician mentor, and volunteers as a visiting dermatologist at Dover Park Hospice and Villa Francis Home for the Aged.

With his dedication to serving vulnerable communities and expertise in fundraising and governance, we’re excited to have him on board to help The Greenhouse grow and flourish as an organisation, so that we can continue providing compassionate and competent care for more.

Welcome, Dr Martin!

This national day weekend we might be hearing NDP songs about the nation’s journey everywhere we go.. but don’t forget to celebrate your own personal journeys too 😜 The Climb by Miley Cyrus is THAT song for many of us, and Wesley’s rendition of it at our Mid Year Celebration deserves just as much attention 😌

Recovery might be an arduous climb, but it is very possible when there is a safe environment and social support.

A few days ago, we shared about clients who came on stage to receive their abstinence medals. There are also many who choose not to stand on stage, but have been an integral part of creating a safe space and supporting others at recovery meetings. By consistently coming back, they are showing up not just for themselves but also for others. 💚

Being able to stand up straight, take up space, and be proud of who you are is part of the journey of healing and growing. We are so grateful to be part of our clients’ journeys of flourishing. But giving out milestone awards at our Mid Year Celebration this year was just one part of the picture — our work continues over every clients’ lifetime. Help us make it possible for our clients to keep coming back to the stage, and for more clients to stand on stage next year, by supporting our work.

The Greenhouse Mid Year Celebration 2026

We had a lovely afternoon of community at our Mid Year Celebration on 19th July. It was an event with many firsts, including a mini Oscars ceremony where we gave out milestone medals and 5-year Long Service Awards 😉

So many of us contributed time and energy to make this happen — clients and volunteers who were our panellists, performers, hosts, ushers, receptionists, and videographers for the day; community partners who have been spreading the word about us and offering background support in the programmes we run; donors and supporters who consistently show up, and without whom none of our work would be possible. Thank you for being a part of this community. 💚

We’re still basking in the warmth of that afternoon, and can’t wait to share the experience with those who missed it. Stay tuned, and see you again next year~ 🥳

Some special items are up for sale at our Mid Year Celebration this Sunday… 👀
This year’s bazaar is our most eclectic one yet, with many items made in collaboration with partners, volunteers, and clients of our centre 🤝

Our bazaar will be open when registration begins at 2.30pm, closed during event programming (3-5pm) and open again at 5-5.30pm. Come early and stay with us till the end to make the most of your time! As a charity, all proceeds go towards keeping our centre and services running.

We’re so excited to announce the speakers who will be sharing their recovery stories at our upcoming Mid Year Celebration! We’ve put together a diverse panel. Volunteers from different programs at The Greenhouse — Peer Support, Friends & Family Support, and Research — will be sharing their stories of healing, growing and serving at our centre and in the wider community. With each of them holding varied roles and identities, they’ll provide fresh and layered perspectives about trauma, addiction, and the work that The Greenhouse does.
