Working at my laptop today.

Finally got a chance to sit down and edit the slides for my upcoming EFT Tapping training this Saturday.

It's been non-stop preparation behind the scenes before even reaching this stage—marketing, content creation, participant queries, printing materials, course design... and sometimes it feels like there is always another task waiting on the list.

Yet, what excites me most has never been the tasks mentioned.

What excites me is the possibility of witnessing change.

The participant who arrives feeling overwhelmed and leaves with practical tools to regulate their emotions.

The person who realises they are not "broken," but simply carrying unresolved stress and old emotional patterns.

The moments when someone experiences a shift, gains a new insight, or begins relating to themselves with greater compassion.

Those moments remind me why all the preparation matters.

So today, it's back to editing slides, fine-tuning the training, and preparing for another group of learners.

Looking forward to seeing shifts that may unfold in the room!

**"Why do I always shut down?"**

Tina* looked frustrated as she shared her story.

"I knew exactly what I wanted to say. I rehearsed the conversation in my head for days. But when the moment came, I just... shut down."

Her mind went blank.

The words disappeared.

Instead of expressing how hurt she felt, she stayed quiet and later felt angry with herself.

For years, Tina thought she lacked confidence.

But as we explored her history, a different picture emerged.

As a child, expressing anger wasn't safe.

Questioning authority was seen as disrespectful.

Disagreeing often led to criticism or punishment.

Her nervous system learned:

Fight wasn't safe.

Flight wasn't possible.

So it chose a third survival response.

**Freeze.**

The freeze response is often overlooked.

It can look like:
• Going blank during difficult conversations
• Struggling to speak up for yourself
• Feeling stuck despite knowing what you want to do

Her nervous system had learned that staying quiet was the safest way to cope.

But the nervous system doesn't always know when the danger has passed.

So years later, the same pattern can show up in situations that are no longer threatening.

A difficult conversation with a partner.

A disagreement with a colleague.

An opportunity that requires stepping outside your comfort zone.

You know what you want to do.

You know what you want to say.

Yet something inside seems to hit the brakes.

If you've ever experienced this, it may not be a lack of motivation, confidence, or willpower.

It may be a nervous system carrying out an old survival strategy.

The good news?

These patterns aren't permanent.

When we understand our survival responses with curiosity rather than judgment, we create space for change.

The question that helped Tina with a breakthrough wasn't:

*"What's wrong with me?"*

It was:

**"What happened that taught my body this was the safest way to survive?"**

The approach that helped her body respond differently instead of automatically freezing?

EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) — a somatic-based approach that helps regulate the nervous system and process unresolved emotional stress.

Healing isn't about forcing yourself to memorise your scripts.

It's about helping your nervous system feel safe enough to choose a different response.

Feeling anxious, exhausted, overwhelmed, or ready to snap at every small thing? 😰

Your nervous system may be dysregulated.

When the nervous system is stuck in survival mode, your body can behave as if there is danger—even when you’re safe.

This may show up as:
• Anxiety and overwhelm
• Burnout and exhaustion
• Tight muscles and restlessness
• Racing thoughts or brain fog
• Difficulty focusing or making decisions
• Feeling constantly on edge.

The good news? Your nervous system can learn safety again.

Nervous system regulation isn’t about controlling your emotions. It’s about helping your body feel safe enough to move out of survival mode.

Start with one small step today. Apply EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) 🙌 as a nervous system regulation tool. Your body is listening.

DM “tap” if you’d like to work together 😀

Many of us are great at showing love and acceptance to the people around us.

Yet when it comes to offering that same love and acceptance to ourselves, it can feel surprisingly unfamiliar.

I witnessed this powerfully in a recent EFT session with a client who sought help for her chronic anxiety, overthinking, and burnout.

Even though expressions of love and affirmation are common from the western culture she's from, she was still taken aback when I guided her to repeat the words after me.

It happened during our session when we began tapping on the side of the hand while verbalising a setup statement...

"Even though I feel anxious, I deeply and completely accept myself."

As she repeated the words, “I love and accept myself,” there was a slight pause.

Then tears started to well in her eyes before she spoke again.

She realised she had never truly said those words to herself before.

It made her realise how she's been judging and criticising who she was all this time.

Then again...

How is this related to anxiety, you may ask?

Often, anxiety is not just about the situations we face externally, but also about the internal struggle happening within us. We resist, suppress, judge, or overthink what we feel. Instead of allowing the emotion to move through us, we end up fighting it internally.

Over time, that inner resistance can intensify feelings of anxiety, emotional exhaustion, and burnout. But when we begin to intentionally love and accept ourselves, including embracing what we feel, the internal struggle softens.

Tapping on the side of the hand while making an affirmative statement of intent helps to clear the resistance we are in.

Change begins when we finally offer ourselves the love, acceptance, and emotional safety we so freely give to others.

As for that client, she was able to experience greater ease and calm once the internal struggle dissolved.

Reflection question:
How often do you allow yourself to fully accept what you are feeling, without judging or trying to fix it immediately?

P.S. DM me or check bio link if you'd like to work together on alleviating anxiety and overcoming self-rejection.

We usually begin EFT tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) by tapping on the Side of the Hand.

The Side of the Hand point is mainly used while vocalising a setup statement.

Tapping on this point helps to correct reversals or self-sabotage situations.

Location: Fleshy part on the side of your hand between the pinky finger and the wrist.

Acupoint: Small Intestine Meridian

Releases: Paralysis, feeling stuck or frozen, resistance to change, worry, inability to let go, sorrow, and obsession.

Restores: Ease, willingness to let go of the old, healing from grief, finding happiness in and connecting to the present moment.

I also tap on the Side of the Hand continuously while client shares about the problem that they are facing almost as soon as our session starts. This helps us to work right away on their resistance while holding a safe space for them to share about their issues.

Try tapping on the Side of the Hand point as you verbalise the setup statement....
"Even though I have this problem (whatever specific issue you are having), I accept that this is how I feel."

Hope this helps!

Tap into transformation, Evelyn

Have you ever said something in the heat of the moment and regretted it almost immediately after?

I remember reacting sharply to a loved one over something minor. My emotions just took over. In that moment, my chest tightened, my thoughts raced, and I braced myself for a confrontation.

But later, after calming down, it no longer felt so big.

Which made me wonder:
“Why did I react that way?”

Psychologist Daniel Goleman described this as an “amygdala hijack” — when the emotional brain overrides the rational thinking brain.

When the nervous system perceives danger — whether physical or emotional — the body can enter fight, flight, freeze, or fawn mode. In those moments, clear thinking becomes less accessible.

The body reacts first. Thinking comes later.

It explains how it can be challenging to think your way out of an overloaded nervous system state.

Before we can reason, we first need regulation.

I often describe the sequence as the 3Rs:

• Regulate — Calm the nervous system
• Relate — Reconnect to the emotional cause with safety and compassion
• Reason — Reflect and respond more clearly.

That is why approaches like breathwork, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) tapping, grounding, and somatic work can be so powerful — they help regulate the nervous system first, which then creates space for emotional processing.

And if this post resonates, find out how you can develop nervous system and emotional regulation skills through learning EFT tapping. Attend my next EFT training that starts on 20 June. DM "training" if you have more questions.

Sometimes, the hardest part is feeling stuck even when you already know what you “should” do.

You know you should rest.
Speak up.
Set boundaries.
Stop overthinking.
Be kinder to yourself.

But somehow, you keep falling into the same patterns.

The overthinking.
The people-pleasing.
The emotional exhaustion.
The anxiety.
The self-doubt.
The pressure to hold everything together while silently struggling inside.

And after a while, it stops feeling like a mindset issue.

It starts feeling like survival mode.

You tell yourself to “just calm down”… but your body stays tense.
You try to stay positive… but your mind keeps spiralling.
You want to move forward… but something inside still feels stuck.

This is why it is no longer just about logic.

Because when your nervous system does not feel safe, it becomes difficult to fully rest, trust, receive, speak up, or let go.

And this is where deeper coaching and emotional work can help.

Not by forcing you to “fix yourself.”

But by helping you regulate your emotional state, feel safer within yourself, and gently understand the patterns underneath your stress, fears, and reactions.

Sometimes, what you truly need is not more advice.

You need a safe space where you no longer have to perform, suppress, or carry everything alone.

A space where your mind can slow down.
Your body can exhale.
And you can reconnect with the version of yourself underneath the overwhelm.

Because real transformation does not happen when you force yourself harder.

It happens when your nervous system finally feels safe enough to change.

And that changes everything.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) has been highlighted on MSN as one of 9 wellness methods that ACTUALLY reduce stress...

"A meta-analysis of 14 randomized controlled trials reported a large treatment effect size for anxiety relief, and EFT has also been linked to significant reductions in cortisol levels, outperforming both talk therapy and rest. Once dismissed as fringe or implausible, tapping therapies are now at the center of a scientific reckoning as mounting clinical and physiological evidence challenges longstanding skepticism."

Stress has become one of the defining health concerns of modern life, and the search for effective ways to manage it has pushed people well beyond the usual advice of exercise and sleep. Over the past few years, a growing number of wellness practitioners and researchers have been looking more seriou...

EFT tapping or Emotional Freedom Techniques has been used on veterans for more than 20 years. Many veterans experience PTSD from war memories. And as the evidence has shown, tapping has helped veterans when talk therapies alone have failed.

EFT tapping is not a miracle cure but it has helped produce rather surprising results for many. So why not explore that for yourself and see if it can help you in some way too?

If you are interested to learn how you can tap on acupressure points and release anxiety and stress that is rooted in the past, come and join me in my EFT training class. The next one starts on June 20. Early bird promo ends on May 31.

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the courage, sacrifice, and service of the men and women who have served our country.

And we also acknowledge something many veterans continue carrying long after service ends: the invisible wounds of trauma.

In a randomized controlled trial published in the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease, veterans receiving six 1-hour Clinical EFT sessions showed dramatic reductions in PTSD symptoms.

By the end of treatment, 86% of participants no longer met the clinical criteria for PTSD — with improvements largely maintained at follow-up months later.

Why does this matter?

Because trauma is not simply a memory stored in the mind.

It’s a stress response carried in the nervous system and body.

Clinical EFT combines evidence-based exposure techniques with somatic acu-point tapping to help the nervous system process traumatic stress more safely and effectively.

Healing is possible. And those who have served deserve access to tools that truly help them heal.
