One of the most common questions I get from clients is, "what if my baby is too big?" This sentiment is often also fuelled by scans and weight estimates provided in the last trimester. Trusting your body to grow a baby that you can push out safely does require some time and effort, but it's definitely possible to get there.

So if you're experiencing such doubts, take a deep breath and remind yourself:

"My baby is the perfect size for my body to give birth to."

Save this affirmation for your upcoming birth or share this with another expecting mum! 💛

As a doula, I tell my clients that we don't write birth plans to control labour or the outcome of birth. We write them to navigate the medical system and to be able to make informed choices during situations that arise during labour and birth.

Swipe through to see why putting your preferences on paper is one of the most powerful things you can do for your birth experience.

If you're unsure about how to get started on your birth plan, DM or comment "PLAN" and we can chat over a call ✨

Breastfeeding and just the postpartum period in general makes me VERY snacky. One of my go-to snacks especially in the early days of postpartum was granola.

I absolutely love how convenient and versatile it is. You can add a variety of different ingredients which makes this snack a nutrition powerhouse, which of course potentially helps with milk supply & the quality of milk.

Ingredients:

🌾 Rolled Oats: The ultimate lactation staple, packed with iron to combat fatigue and boost milk supply.

🥜 The Nut Trio (Walnuts, Almonds, Hazelnuts): Loaded with healthy fats and protein to keep your energy stable and enrich your breastmilk

🎃 Pumpkin Seeds: High in zinc, iron and magnesium to support tissue healing, regulate mood, and potentially improve milk supply.

🥥 Coconut Oil & Honey: Natural anti-inflammatory fats and unrefined sweetness for a quick, crash-free energy boost.

🌴 Dates: Historically used to help with uterine recovery and natural energy.

🍇 Dried Cranberries & Raisins: Rich in antioxidants and a quick iron boost.

🍫 Chocolate Chips: Because postpartum joy is a vital nutrient! 🤍

Let me know in the comments what is your go-to postpartum snack! 👇🏾

I love trying out different recipes that also can potentially help boost lactation! I was so surprised at how creamy and decadent this treat turned out to be 🤤

It's best after you refrigerate it for a couple of hours so that it sets. The consistency is like a pudding, and I looooove how well this turned out! If you want more protein, you can try this out with firm tofu instead of silken tofu, but either way, this treat has phytoestrogens that can potentially help support you in your breastfeeding journey 🤱🏾

One of the toughest mental hurdles mums face is to let go of control and lean into their body's instincts during labour. Believe that your body knows what to do especially when the surges get intense. Trust your instincts.

So repeat this to yourself: I trust my body and surrender to the process.

There were moments during my third labour when I felt like giving up. Things escalated so quickly and my body took over completely. My mind only caught up to what was happening only when I felt my son's head crowning.

Save this post and affirmation when you need to center yourself during labour! 💪

As a doula, I see the most confidence in the birth room when a mum has done these three things:

1. They’ve planned for their ideal birth experience (while remaining flexible)
2. They’ve educated themselves on their rights, so they feel like the CEO of their birth.
3. They’ve prepped their body with gentle, consistent movement.

If you're curious about what or how to come up with a birth plan, DM or comment 'PLAN' and I'll send you a copy of my birth preferences template ✨

Happy Mothers' Day!! 💞

Today, we celebrate the mamas, the mamas-to-be, the bereaved mamas, the honorary aunties, and the grandmothers who paved the way. To every person who provides the warmth of a mother’s love—in whatever form that takes—today is for you.

Sending extra love to those who find today difficult 💗

The movies love to showcase labour as a dramatic event, and part of that almost always includes the waters breaking in a dramatic gush. Most of the time, the water bag tends to release in the later stages of labour. Only about 8-10% of labour starts off with waters releasing at the beginning of labour; and even then it mostly tends to be a trickle rather than a full gush of water. 💧

If this happens to you, remember to take note of the time, and watch out for surges if you're in the last few weeks of pregnancy. If this happens earlier than 37 weeks, it's best to head in to the hospital for a check!

This pregnancy and postpartum has been full of surprises, and this time round we have been trying to help Baby H with birth tension. I did a post on what Birth or Body tension is a couple of days ago, and we have been seeking treatment at Edge Healthcare for baby H. 👶🏾

Our therapist, Camilla is from the UK and she has been great with baby H. She really listened to all our concerns with lots of empathy and she's been very reassuring. Baby H spends most of the time feeding 🍼 while going through treatment, and that's honestly a flexibility that I really appreciate.

Every baby is different, but we definitely did start noticing improvements in baby H after the first consult. This is a bit of a work-in-progress, there are some exercises that we have to do at home as well, but overall, our experience has been very positive. ✨

If you're looking for a good pediatric osteopath, I'd definitely recommend Camilla from Edge Healthcare! ✨
