Whether it’s a tune your dad used to hum in the morning, or the song that always made him smile, our fathers often leave behind a unique soundtrack to our lives.

With and both falling on 21 June this year, we took to the TTSH Atrium to ask our staff and visitors: “What is a song that reminds you of your father?”

The answers brought back smiles, a few tears, and a whole lot of nostalgia. A father’s love isn’t just felt - it’s heard in the melodies that stay with us forever. 💙

A stay in the ICU can be one of the most challenging experiences a person and their family will ever face. When critical illness strikes, families are often thrust into a world of uncertainty, fear and difficult decisions — and they can feel just as overwhelmed as the medical condition itself.

𝐀 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐂𝐔 is an initiative by Lien Foundation, National University Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital that brings compassionate care, comfort and intentional gentleness into the ICU journey — from the very beginning, alongside life-sustaining treatment.

Because critical care is not only about saving lives but also about easing suffering, holding families close through uncertainty, and ensuring that every patient is seen as a person — not just a case.

For many patients with chronic health conditions, recovery doesn’t end at discharge; it extends to rebuilding a working life. Over two years the 𝐍𝐇𝐆 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 team from TTSH and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) & Yishun Community Hospital worked across disciplines and sectors to make that possible, supporting some 190 patients on their return-to-work journey.

Together with our NHG Health family and partners from LKCMedicine at NTU, we co-created MedVid, Singapore’s first AI-generated medication education videos.

By simply scanning a QR code, patients can watch step-by-step instructions in their own language. These videos are available on HealthHub, helping patients and caregivers feel safer and more confident with their medications.

As a lead up to our TTSH Nurses’ Day celebrations, several of our nursing leaders visited the AWWA Dementia Day Care Centre @ Yishun – volunteering their time, and bringing smiles to the faces of the seniors.

Together, they did arts & crafts, and delivered a special gift bag for the seniors in the centre. The visit was definitely an impactful one for both our nursing volunteers, as well as the seniors.

We look forward to more meaningful visits and collaboration in the future 💙

Like in an F1 race, where tight coordination and safety are paramount, a multidisciplinary surgical team from the National Neuroscience Institute and Tan Tock Seng Hospital joined forces to perform 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐲 (𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐒), demonstrating clinical excellence and innovation in patient care. 🔍🧑‍⚕️

Mr Teong was 38 years old when he was diagnosed with a 2.5cm brain tumour located just behind his right eye. Faced with a choice between conventional open skull surgery and a newer, less invasive approach, he opted for TONES — a technique that accesses the tumour through a small incision in the eyelid.

Mr Teong was discharged just three days after surgery, with no neurological or eye complications, minimal scarring, and a significantly faster recovery than conventional surgery would have allowed. Today, he is back at work and living life again - an outcome shaped by surgical expertise and commitment to patient care. 💪
