Meadow Moments: A Quiet Afternoon of Presence, Stretch, and Shared Smiles

Before the room filled with chatter and laughter last Saturday afternoon, there was just a quiet moment—a single empty chair waiting at the front of the hall under the soft glow of the screen.

Soon enough, that quiet room transformed as more than 50 participants gathered together—some traveling from nearby blocks, others journeying from across the island to spend the afternoon with us. Among them were dear, familiar faces who had attended our previous sessions, alongside wonderful new friends stepping into the space for the very first time. To have people walk alongside this journey session after session brings such profound, quiet companionship.

Every single encounter matters so deeply to me; each interaction feels like a precious stone, waiting to be gently revealed and polished through shared stories and presence.

As we settled into our afternoon together, a big question naturally arose for everyone in the room: When the day gets busy and the queues get long, who do we really want in the driver's seat of our mind? Do we let Ah Tuk—our ancient fight-flight-freeze alarm—run the show, or do we invite Arthur—our calm, clear-thinking companion—to take the wheel?

For those of you who couldn't join us last Saturday: If you’ve ever found yourself reacting to life's little rushes without knowing why, have you ever wondered who is steering your busy mind?

We explored the art of noticing, met both Ah Tuk and Arthur, and shared plenty of laughter. And of course, we couldn't resist having a little fun with some gentle, mindful stretching—moving our bodies with care, listening to our physical limits, and breathing into the present moment as one large group.

A special and heartfelt thank you to NLB Toa Payoh and Ms. Tiffany for your wonderful, efficient support on the ground—your kindness made everything run so smoothly.

If you missed out on this round, there is always a seat waiting for you. We would love to warmly invite you to our next session coming up at Geylang East, where we will be exploring Cultivating Self-Care & Kindness.

To everyone who showed up with an open heart last Saturday, thank you. It is a privilege to pause, breathe, and notice life unfolding right here with all of you.

🌿 The Art of Savouring Time: Finding Grace in the "Now"

Have you ever watched a dragonfly rest on the very tip of a leaf, hovering right over the water? It sits so calm and still, trusting a thin leaf to hold its weight.

When footsteps approach, it gracefully flies away. But once the noise fades, it flies right back to the exact same spot, settling down with the exact same peace.

"Peace isn't about avoiding the noise of the world; it is knowing how to fly away and gently return to the exact same quiet spot within."

Lately, life's sudden moments remind us how fragile our days are. We spend so much time rushing or bracing for the future. But watching that dragonfly offers a gentle reminder: we don't have to fear life's disruptions. We just need to know how to return to our centre.

There is a quiet kind of magic in an unhurried day spent across the causeway—a cozy dinner treated by our son, and endless laughter over our daughter’s sweet, familiar antics.

But lately, life has a tender, sobering way of reminding us just how fragile these ordinary moments are. Hearing of dear friends navigating sudden losses makes the heart pull inward, holding the "now" just a little bit tighter. Sitting across from my husband and our grown children over a warm rose latte—slowly savoring the rich coffee, the milk, and the gentle hint of rose—a profound wave of gratitude washed over me.

We spend so much of life rushing, sometimes forgetting to truly taste our coffee or cherish the presence of those we love.

Come take a quiet pause with me this week. Read the full reflection on slowing down, holding our loved ones close, and anchoring in the present moment in Meadow Moments: https://www.tulipmeadows.sg/meadow-moments-hidden/18-aug-26-a-rose-latte

The Traffic Light Pause: Nature's Kintsugi

There is a particular kind of stillness that finds you at a red traffic light on a holiday weekend.

While the rest of the island hums with the celebratory echoes of National Day, your car comes to a gentle halt. For sixty seconds, the rush of the day drops away. And right there, hugging the edge of the asphalt, stands a cluster of Sanchezia speciosa—commonly known as the Gold Vein Plant. Though a frequent favorite in our neighborhood parks, it feels like a quiet revelation to truly notice it for the first time.

Every leaf looks touched by Kintsugi—the ancient Japanese art of mending broken pottery with powdered gold, turning flaws into a masterpiece of resilience.

This is so much like mindfulness. We spend so much of our lives trying to keep everything smooth, wishing away our rough edges or detours. But mindfulness invites us to honor our scars. Our difficult seasons aren't flaws; they are the very places where the light enters, weaving gold through our character.

Standing there at the traffic light, three gentle shifts quietly come to mind:

🌷From rushing past to truly seeing: Realizing beauty has been sitting right outside our windows all along.

🌷From seeking perfection to honouring the cracks: Remembering that life's winding trails don't ruin our story—they make our journey ours.

🌷From chasing grand spectacles to resting in the everyday: Finding magic right here, at a quiet street corner under the shade.

The red light turns green. The car moves forward. But the image stays, reminding us we don't need to look far to find grace.

May you continue to notice, feel, and gently grow forward, together. 🌿✨

A quiet weekend thought... 🌷

There's a tiredness that doesn't come from lack of sleep — it's the weariness of always holding, for everyone else, while our own inner landscape quietly grows weary.

As Singapore slows down this National Day weekend to rest and celebrate, it feels like a timely reminder that we, too, are allowed to pause.

If your heart has been whispering for a deeper stillness this season, I am holding a small, intimate 3-hour experiential workshop this September, anchored in the SEEDS framework. A quiet space to journey inward and simply come back to yourself.

📅 Date: Saturday, 19 September 2026

🕘 Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm

📍 Venue: To be confirmed

✨ Registration: https://art-of-journeying-inward-SEEDS-19Sep26.eventbrite.sg

(No payment is needed right now — just let us know you're keen by saving your spot, and we will follow up once the circle begins to gather.)

If this speaks to you, we would love to hold a space for you in the circle. 🌷

For now, enjoy the long weekend with your loved ones.
Happy Birthday Singapore ! 🥰

1 Aug 26: One Year of Tulip Meadows🌷

As the date on my calendar rests just past our official milestone, my heart lingers on August 1st—the day Tulip Meadows quietly turned one.

Looking at this sweet strawberry yogurt cake, surprised into my hands by the people who mean the world to me, I am filled with a quiet, trembling gratitude. A whole year of stepping into the unknown, trusting a whisper of a dream, and learning to hold space for myself.

This path has held every season. It has been a privilege to share the art of noticing in community and corporate spaces with professionals, seniors, young parents, and youths. Yet it has also held shadows—disappointments and friendships that drifted away. To those who left, those who stayed just a call away, and those who came, I feel profound gratitude. In life's valleys, the truest planting happens.

Through every high and low, my greatest shelter has been home. To my husband Jeremy, my rock; my son Dennys, for your steady laughter; and my graduate daughter Kimberly, congratulations! Thank you for being my co-creator and teaching me Canva. And curling beside every late-night writing session is my precious pet Ashie, whose gentle spirit anchors my heart. You are my true home.

Reflecting on this year, three quiet shifts have taken root:

🌷From striving to allowing: Letting things unfold in their own time.

🌷From holding on to releasing: Accepting that departures are as sacred as staying.

🌷From seeking outside to resting inward: Finding my anchor in the heart and home.

Thank you for walking this meandering, beautiful path with Tulip Meadows.

May we continue to notice, feel, and grow forward together. 🌷

As Tulip Meadows quietly steps across its very first milestone today, I find myself reflecting on the journey of the past year—one built not in isolation, but through shared breath, quiet moments, and the steady grace of wonderful people.

To my family—Jeremy, Dennys, and Kimberly—thank you for your unwavering support, for bringing this vision to life from its very first logo and canvas, and for walking every step of this path with me.

To my dear friends who cheered me on, and to every participant, partner, and soul who has stepped into a workshop or shared in our mindfulness sessions over the past year: thank you. Your presence has left a gentle footprint here.

Here is to journeying inward and growing forward together. 🌷

The Anchor of Roots

Hello dear friends, I hope your week is unfolding with a little extra space. 🌿

Last Friday, I found myself taking an unplanned stroll along the new Nature Immersion Trail at Saraca Stream in the Singapore Botanic Gardens, National Parks Board Singapore (Nparks) —a UNESCO World Heritage site we are so blessed to have right in our city. I wasn't looking for anything in particular—just a simple walk to let the mind settle and experience the surroundings.

Amidst the greenery, this magnificent tree stood out. Standing there, watching how its sprawling buttress roots anchored so firmly and effortlessly into the earth—having taken decades, perhaps even a century, to root themselves this deeply—I was struck by a quiet realization. Just like this ancient tree, our own capacity for grounding isn't built overnight. It takes years of quiet, steady persistence.

Later on, as I sat by the water with my feet up, watching the light ripple across the lake, a profound sense of ease settled in. It was simply a moment of total pause, a reminder that amidst the constant motion of life, life is good enough. I am deeply grateful for these green sanctuaries that hold space for us.

This is where the beauty of neuroplasticity meets our mindfulness practice. Every time we pause, take a conscious breath, and return to our center, we literally help wire our brains to find ease more readily next time. It is not about achieving a permanent state of perfection, nor is it about labeling experiences as "good" or "bad." It is simply the gentle, ongoing practice of keeping it going.

When we feel scattered by the rush of daily demands, three gentle shifts can help us return to our anchor:

> From rushing to arriving: Instead of living entirely in our next destination or task, we practice letting our feet actually land in the present moment.

> From holding on to letting go: Just as the roots release downward into the dark soil to draw strength, we can release the need to control every outcome and trust the ground beneath us.

> From surviving to resting: Allowing ourselves to pause isn't a luxury; it is the deep, steady rest that reminds us—even amidst the noise—that life is good.

May you find your own quiet grounding this week, and may you feel rooted through whatever comes your way. 🌷

Dr. Kristin Neff's work has helped millions understand the power of self-compassion. Her message is a timely reminder: we don't have to be perfect to be worthy of care and compassion. 🌷

What would change if we spoke to ourselves as kindly as we speak to a dear friend?
