Why does acne leave dark marks even after the pimple is gone? 🤔

That annoying dark spot isn’t always a scar. In many cases, it’s post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) — a temporary increase in pigment that happens as your skin responds to inflammation.

Here’s what happens 👇🏻

🔴 1. Acne causes inflammation
When a pimple becomes inflamed, it triggers your skin’s natural healing response.

🟤 2. Your skin produces more melanin
Inflammation can stimulate pigment-producing cells, causing more melanin to be deposited in the area.

🌞 3. Sun exposure can make it darker
UV exposure can encourage even more pigment production, making post-acne marks appear darker and last longer.

⏳ 4. The mark remains after the acne is gone
