We are honoured to receive the Excellence Award (Most Sustainable Hospital 2026) at this year’s Hospital Management Asia Awards, recognising our “From Waste to Worth: Sustainable Reuse of Reverse Osmosis (RO) Reject Water in the Kidney Unit” project!
Held alongside the annual Hospital Management Asia conference, the awards recognise innovative and progressive projects undertaken by hospitals across the region to improve healthcare outcomes. This year’s awards ceremony was held in Bangkok yesterday.
The project pioneered the recovery and reuse of RO reject water generated by dialysis services, making NTFGH the first hospital in Singapore to implement a hospital-based water recovery and reuse initiative.
Since 2025, the team has captured and repurposed about 70% of dialysis RO reject water for landscape irrigation, saving approximately 9 million litres of potable water each year.
This initiative demonstrates how we can rethink conventional practices and turn waste into a resource, while delivering environmental and operational benefits without compromising patient safety or reliability.
